Let's Stamp Out Alzheimer's!
>> Monday, May 25, 2009
Well, it's 12:06 am which means the Stampin' Out Alzheimer's event has officially started! WOOHOO! This event is a week long! It's going to be so much fun! Since i'm a sponsor, i've been able to get on the site a little bit early to set up my challenge and boy oh boy are there some fun challenges, prizes and freebies! You'll really want to check it out!
The challenge I'm sponsoring is called "Any Winged Thing". Sounds easy enough, right? It is!!! ALl you have to do is used any "winged" thing! I used a fairy (how could i not!) but I could have used a butterfly, bumblebee, angel, bird, etc. Anything with wings!!!! The prize to be won is a $25 gift certificate to the Paper Makeup Stamps site.
Here's my card...
Ok, first can i just say that i LOVE this new glitter paper by Best Creations?! I mean it is SUPERBLY (if thats a word) glittery! And the best part, the glitter doesnt come off! Now i'm not going to lie, it's not cheap paper. It retails at about 2 bucks a sheet, but it's amazing! I have 2 sheets now (a blue and an orange) but methinks i may have to get more!
It also inspired me to do a technique that i LOVE and dont do nearly often enough and thats heat emboss my brads. You simply heat up the brad using your heat gun (um, you'll need tweezers or something long and away from your fingers!!!!) and then dip the heated brad into your embossing powder. Some of the embossing powder will start to melt and so it will stick to your metal brad but you'll need to reheat the brad to get it all to melt. Using a "tinsel" embossing powder makes glittery brads super easy which is what i did here! And it ended up matching the paper perfectly to my delight!
