Digi Makeover Challenge 5 - Color Challenge

It's another Monday so that means another digi challenge from Paper Makeup Stamps!

This weeks challenge is a color challenge!!

I did have fun making this card, even if it is pretty simple.

I know i've mentioned this before, but it's definitely the biggest selling point to digis for me....

changing the size! Much more so than the saving of space and even slightly bigger deal of being more cost effective. But I love that I can change the size to perfect suit my needs.

In this case, after a busy busy weekend, I needed a simple card that I could get lost in making.

Not one that i was figuring this or that out.

I chose to use Lucy Mouse from the Retro Cutie Critters and I enlarged her so that she took up quite a bit of space on the front of my card. She was very fun to color, thats for sure!

Then I chose the Sing Love Dance wordart and I actually made it a little bit smaller so that Lucy could really shine! Obviously the rest of my card is pretty simple with only a mat layer and some photo corners and bling. Oh and my airbrush because after a weekend of a lot of makeup, the airbrush just seems like a must! HAHA!

Copic Creations with Susana’s Custom Art and Card Design

DOUBLE POST DAY! If you scroll down (and I hope you do!) I mention how the 1st is always a fun day of the month. So much going on in the crafting world with new releases and and challenges, etc. It's definitely a fun (but BUSY) time each month for many of us!

Today the Copic Creation team has a new challenge for you.. and it's an easy one! USE PINK!

Now last time we had a color challenge, i was a bit literal! Using ONLY copics from the BG family. This round, i did use some favorite pinks, but I did allow some other colors to be used! haha!

Our challenge is being sponsored by the generous and fabulous Susana from Susana’s Custom Art and Card Design. I just adore Susana! She has been an "early friend" in the online crafting world and was a big supporter of my starting my own stamp company. She's just sweet as can be and helpful and I love her to pieces! Susana carries many different stamp company lines in her store, one of them being EXCLUSIVE Elisabeth Bell stamps. And she was so generous to send us each our own to play with!

Here is my card using paper from October Afternoon (Go Fly A Kite)

For my pinks, I used R30, R32, R35 and R39. Normally i would have also used R37 but it has mysteriously disappeared from my craft room? So far, I havent found red marker traces anywhere... so we'll see where it decides to turn up!

Other copic colors used... for the purse... BG09, BG07, BG05 and a little BG45.

Skin is E21, E00 and E000 (with some R30 for her cheeks)

Money (happy day, i want to find some money!) is YG17 and YG13.

Hair: E99, YR23, Y21 and a little YR14 just to warm it up a bit.

The Sentiment on my card is from a Paper Makeup Stamps set called Retail Therapy. :D

Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop: Oldies but Goodies!

Well there is no new release from PMS this month (remember the releases are every other month) but as always, it's the 7th so we still have a fun hop for you!

Here is my card...

Even though this is one of my favorite monsters from PMS, it occured to me when I was choosing which Oldie but Goodie stamp that i'd never used him! I got excited and inked him up! Only to remember we were supposed to ""sign up" for which one we wanted to use so there would be no repeats. Um... Well if you are doing the hop you've already seen Jami's amazing card. WOOPS. I forgot my own rules. Guess it's a good thing i won't fire myself!

I love this guy though! And if YOU are a big fan of the monsters and have missed them terribly... i have good news for you! We DO have some new monsters in the works so definitely stay tuned for our upcoming release!!!

THis card also qualifies for our CHALLENGE issued to you today by our new challenge master, Dawn Mercedes. She wants us to use some fun summery sun colors. Thinks reds, oranges, yellows, etc. Ok, so it's not overly orange but it is orange and I did it with the challenge in mind!

I seriously love this guy. Kinda how i feel on rainy days. I'm not a big fan of rain.

My copic colors used on this are YR14, YR21, and YR20.

For my greys i used C0 C1, C3, and C5

I used nestabilities by spellbinders (labels 11) and airbrushed inside the nestie for some added color.

TO get my mojo flowing for this card, I decided to pop by one of my very favorite challenges (that i havent played on for a bit, sorry girls!) and thats the Just Us Girls Challenge! In hindsight, i should have colored her hair more yellowed than orange to match the so saffron color of the challenge. I think in my head there was orange that i was trying to add in. haha!

PMS Summer Blog Hop!

The PMS Paper Makeup Artists have all joined together for a fun in the sun blog hop!

You should have hopped here from Tina Hale's magical blog... if you are just starting at my bog, you ned to go from the beginning because there is prizes to be won and you need to know how! Like a $40 mystery prize pack!!!

While my June has already provided to be as crazy as my May (thank goodness it slows down after next week!) I do have a fun summery card that I never got to share, so I thought that this would be the PERFECT time!

This is the card I created for my mom for mother's day. Now I know to many, Mother's Day is a bit more of a spring holiday than a summery one, but here in the south, anything in May is pretty much summer! Our temps have been in the upper 90's for a good part of the month. It's kinda crazy!

I used some bright paper by Crate Paper (the Carnival collection) to pair with the über cute slugs from the PMS monster collection. I love these slugs! So darn fun and cute and very fun to color! I also used a spellbinders die to cut out the image, and then the copic airbrush system to really help the image stand out!

And because I know everyone likes to see close ups to really see what stamps look like... here ya go!

My papers were wrinkled and crinkled after coloring, though it's a little hard to make out in the photo. :D

Here's a close up of the main image. It just now occured to me I forgot to color the little animal on the pull string. WOOPS! See it happens to all! Ok, it especially happens to me.

I can see myself using images like this over and over again. I know I love coloring, and I will continue to color, but truth be told I dont always have the time to color!

Copic Creations Challenge with Lily of the Valley

ANd now.. forgive my incredibly brash post as by the time I've gotten to typing this one, I'm pooped beyond belief! Today was a big work day for me, 2 weddings, plus some prom girls and a bachelorette makeup. Total of 17 makeup applications and then 1 hairstyle for the day. I was up at 6am, and it's nearing midnight, so yeah.... it's definitely time for bed!

The copic Creations team is playing with CLOUDS this week! What a fun challenge, huh?

We are being sponsored by Lily of the Valley stamps! My card uses a stamp i've actually had since i first saw Lily of the Vally on a blog and went OMG, i must have those stamps! ANd this is one I've not gotten around to inking up. It was perfect for this challenge!!!

To create my clouds, I first stamped out my image and then a 2nd image on scratch paper which I cut out to create a mask. Then I used some cloud stencils i've had for a couple years (picked them up at a local store) and also the copic airbrush system.

My sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps (the coordinating sentiment from Jerry in the clouds).

Copic Creations Challenge with Crafty Secrets

Today the Copic Creations team is celebrating our favorite copic techniques and we're being sponsored by Crafty Secrets. Craft Secrets sent each of us 3 stamp sets of our choice! I heart them!

Here is my card... using 1 of my very favorite flowers... Poppies!!!!

I used 2 of my favorite techniques on this card. One is coloring with a high contrast meaning that the edges and folds of the image are very dark (I used R59 here) while the highlights of the image or very right (R20). Inbetween i used R22, R24, R27, R29 in various spots.

I also used another all time favorite technique with copics and it didnt show up much in the photo. Pooo. But thats using the copic airbrush system. Ok, so granted i have airbrush on the brain since I also airbrush makeup, but there is something about it that just really makes an image stand out to me. ANd it seems easy to me to avoid the image without much masking, etc. Here I used B00 as my sky color. It shows up more in person.

Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop Starts Now

It's another Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop!!!!!

If you are already along your way in the hop, you should have arrived from Christi Snow's WONDERFUL blog! After a very long and eventful week (thank you for all my well wishes and kudos for keeping my had above water thru it all), i didnt get my card done for yesterdays post. See, I'm not as on top of it as you think!!!! But i couldnt resist the card I had planned to make, so today I have 2 cards to share with you!!!!

First, is Sally Sheep!

I stamped Sally Sheep, the newest addition to the Cutie Critter's stamp line on kraft cardstock and then colored her with copic markers. Then for her white wool, i used a white colored pencil. After cutting the image out with a spellbinders nestie, i airbrushed inside with R81 copic marker. My sentiment comes from the When There's Nothing Left to Say set. I simply left off the "you" and handwrote in "ewe". :D

Next up... is the adorable Aurora!

I've actually had this image for some time but had to wait for the right time to release her.

Isnt she precious? She's actually about how i feel right now! Haha.

After coloring her I again airbrushed inside the nestie. Maybe after all my makeup jobs this week, nothing feels right if there isnt a little airbrushing! HAHAHAHAH!

Where I have been....

Hello everyone! This is a bit of a double post. :D But it does have to do with creative things!

This past month I have been busy busy busy! Lots of weddings to do makeup and hair on (the fall is a big wedding season in the south because it's beautiful and not as hot!) but I've also embarked on a new creative adventure... Photography! Seeing as I have done makeup professionally for quite a while, i thought it would be fun to learn photography to go along with it. It has been so much fun learning and practicing with models, but also time consuming as I've tried to take advantage of when I am able to shoot with a good model.

Now I dont plan on posting very much of my photography on this blog as this is my crafting blog... but my very first photo shoot does serve a bit as a dual post. For this photo i did the makeup, the hair and all the clothing styling (including sewing the tulle skirt and altering the flower for her hair accessory!

Here's a few of the photography shots!

For my first shoot, i was rather please with how it turned out. We also continued to shoot another look, but i'm won't bore you with that one here. If you are interested, you can read about it on my makeup and photography blog. :D

So about the crafty side of the shoot.... tulle skirts are not as quick and easy to make as I thought. It was fine, just not nearly wham, bam, thank you ma'am as i thought it would be!

But here's the part that I think my paper crafting friends would be the most interested in....

See her flower in her hair? I picked that up at hobby lobby in the bridal section. They have them in all different colors. But the thing about them i don't like... they a brightly colored and SHINY! It just didnt have the rustic fall look i wanted for the photo. I've come across this problem before in paper crafting... when a flower you want to use just isnt the right color? Or looks cheap like it did in this case. SO what do i do.... i break out my copic airbrush and alter away! You can spray just about ANYTHING with the copic airbrush!

I don't know about you, but i'm definitely liking the altered version more so than the original. I suppose maybe for the original purpose of something for bridal the bright and shiny works.. but I think the airbrush gives it so much more dimension!

I used a couple different browns to achieve the final look. E59 on the leaves to make them brown instead of peach. E25 slightly over the petals to just give them a little more depth and edge and then E49 (super dark) not in the airbrush, but i used the brush tip side to color the stemens (the pearls in the center)

Now obviously these would be a little large for a card or even scrapbook page, however they might work great on an altered item and you can apply the same principle to airbrushing smaller flowers and such.

So thats what i have for ya today! Don't forget you can airbrush more than just paper!

You know you've grown up...

The above sentiment reads "You know you've grown up when what you want for Christmas can't be found in a store". This is one of the newest releases from Paper Makeup Stamps. When i came across this sentiment one day, i just knew i had to have it in stamp form. Lucky thing about owning your own stamp company, you can make that happen. haha.

Also being released as a single is the Celest Fairy. You may remember her from the Celestial Possibilities card kit. Well now you can get her as a single image as well. I think she works great for holiday cards but is also good for cards all year around. The funny thing is i still colored here in aquas like the card kit. But i added grey this time, and colored her hair orange... doesnt that count for something?

For my background paper, i created it just using photoshop and layering the phrase Peace for the World. Because afterall... thats the one thing i think is the most important. One day, i hope we {the world} gets there!

Skin is E00, E21, R20 and her eyes are B12, B16

Shirt and berries are R59, R27, R24 and holly leaves are G21, G24, G28

The sentiment is this month's freebie sentiment with any order while supplies last.

I cut it out using the Nestabilities Fancy Tags by Spellbinders and airbrushed inside the nestie.

Paper used is basic Grey, Wassail.

PMS peeks, Christmas Cheer!

It's another day of sneak peeks from Paper Makeup Stamps!

Today we are showing off a new illustrated christmas set called Christmas Cheer.

This set is SUPER fun! At least i think it is! There are 5 images, all large enough to work with on a scrapbook layout, but still small enough to use on cards. These ornaments are my favorite!!!

I kept my card simply ( i had a date night tonight with my hubby! woot woot! but less time to work on a card!) The great thing about this image is that since the word joy is in the ornament, i felt like it could go sentiment-less.

I colored the image using copic markers (R22, R24, R27, R29, R59; YG63, YG67, YG11, YG91, E42, E41). The paper is from the i believe collection from My Minds Eye.

I used Labels 9 from spellbinders to cut out the image and then used my copic airbrush and w1 marker. A white gel pen completed the look for me.

My Time Made Easy with some Pumpkin Pie!

It is no secret i have a mild obession with anything pumpkin. Pie... lattes.... candles.... soup..... the color... really, i love pumpkin! When I saw the Any Way You Slice it template... i knew there was just 1 thing i wanted to make... a slice of pumpkin pie!!!!

This adorable triangle box can be made into all SORTS of things. The fun thing is thinking up new ways to dress it up! (a tree, santa hat, candy corn, pie slice, cake slice, reindeer, carrot, etc etc!)

So how what did i do? First i created the template itself. I'm also mildly obsessed with my airbrush. It's just so comfy and happy in my hand. haha. I went over all the edges quickly with the YR14 copic marker... just enough to tinge the edges. I used some natural twill ribbon and ran a strip of scortape on the underside and then pleated it to create my crust. I airbrushed that a bit too so it would look cooked. I also used the twill ribbon to create other crust like features on the box. To create my whipped cream, i took some white tulle and wound it around, adhered it together on the bottom side with a large piece of scor tape. Lost my scor tape!

Thats pretty much it for the box! Super cute box that takes very little to doll up! Which is nice when gift giving is quick and often around the holidays! You can see in the above photo where the box folds into itself at the point. The whole side wall then just swings out! I probably should have taken a picture of that! Onto my card...

You know you love that great big pumpkin! Ok, so i know that I love that great big pumpkin!

hahahahah! Well, that my friends, is the gloriousness that is digi stamps! Last month there was a stamp set released called Spooky Surprise. It was also released as a digi! Instant download... less cost... less storage space. I do like to actually stamp now and then, but I am also a big fan of digi stamps for the reasons i already mentioned. This here is the pumpkin in the stamp set... which the stamp itself is barely over and inch by inch. Super great size for decorating your templates, tags, etc. But i wanted the pumpkin to be my main focus, so i enlarged that baby and had a LOT of fun coloring him in! Here i used copic markers, YR21, YR12, YR15, YR18.

OH i havent mentioned the paper i used yet! It's one of the new released of Pretty Printables Paper! The paper collection is called Fall Foliage. I love it!!!! If you like the patterns, well check out all the paper packs, great paper patterns in different color combos, all coordinated with the other paper patterns in the same color combos giving you the ability to mix and match your papers on your projects with ease!

Crisp and Clear Fall is HERE!

It's finally starting to feel like fall around here! The leaves are turning a bit and the weather is cooling off. I love fall... the colors... the smells, the foods and the holidays! Yep! I love fall!

My project to show to you today is actually the final product of an altering canvas class i'm teaching at Scrapnesia, a local scrapbooking store near me. The cost of the class is $30 but will include EVERYTHING you need to create this canvas (including the canvas!) The only thing you need to supply is the photo!

To create this canvas we will be starting an 8x8 bare canvas. Using the cricut machine, we will cut some stencils and masks AND I will show you how to create your own stamp using the cricut. Then we will get to work airbrushing the canvas using the Copic Airbrush system.

We will create our own background paper using the stamp we cut from the cricut. Last but not least, i will show everyone how to create custom colored rhinestones for your project.

Just Expressing my Thanks with the MTME release!

Tomorrow the new release from My Time Made Easy will be live on the site! And I cant even begin to say how excited I am about it! This month Lauren has brought you LOADS of coffee themed stamps and templates! It does stop there, there is a few spooky sets and an addition to last months Shop Around template! Holy cow... it's a big release and the team has been hard at work to bring you samples but they are oh so worth it because this release just ROCKS!

Is this cup not just the cutest thing you've ever seen?! I just LOVE it! You may remember long ago i turned the Bouncing Baby Buggy into a coffee cup. I'm just a smidgen obsessed with coffee! So just imagine my GLEE when Lauren created this super adorable cup which by the way, definitely makes a better coffee cup than i made before! hahaha!

I printed the Cafe Text paper from the All Steamed Up pretty printables paper pack and GASP printed the pdf file onto it. Yep... i did NOT use my cricut for this one. Sometimes it's just fun to go a little old school. hahaha. The base was printed on coordinating cardstock.

To the right you can see a better view of the handle and the inside of my mug. I SHOULD have printed a color on the other side of the paper but I didnt think about that at the start, only when i put it together and thought... oh... it's just white in there. Well thats boring. hahaha. So i pulled out my trusty copic airbrush and quickly blasted the inside a nice coffee color. Much better. :D

Now onto my card... i printed more papers from the All Steamed Up pretty printables paper pack. And then got to work with some of the SUPER fabulous new stamps!

Most notably the HUGE coffee cup! This is from the Fancy a Cuppa stamp set. I love that you can stamp in a pattern for the cup!! And there are different options for girly flowers to more masculine checkered. I went with solid because I already had a lot going on with my card! There is also a cup outline ( i used that too) but it makes it perfect for paper piecing.

My steam above the cup is actually from the Grab a Cup stamp set. It may fit the stamps of coffee cups better in that set than my GIGONDOR coffee cup on my card, but by adding 3 steams, i think it works great!!!
