PMS Monday

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

Hiya Gals! Did you know that PMS is now going to have color challenges? And for the first color challenge - you can win one of the new releases! So go check it out. :)

Here's my card for the color challenge...

The color challenge is to use Pink and Gray. Simple enough right? I used no patterned paper for this card. Kinda a thing with me the past coupla cards i've made. But i did use my cuddlebug. It needed a little bit of love. :)

The image is Jaina Fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps or more affectionately known as PMS. :) She is colored with Copics and as i promised my ladies in my coloring class - yes i will list all the colors i used! The color in BOLD is the main color, the others are for shading and blending. Her skin is colored with E000, E00 and E21 (yes i used 21 instead of 31, it was closer to me). Her dress is colored with R00 and R11. Her vest and shoes were colored with C1, C3 and C5. Her hair was colored with E33, E35, E37.

Edges were sponged with cats eye chalk ink in charcoal. And the sentiment is from Savvy Stamps.

Dont forget to check out the PMS blog to see everyone else's creations! There is some blog candy over there too so check it out!

Welcome Baby!

>> Friday, November 28, 2008

One of my best friends just had her baby girl early this morning!!!! If you want to go leave a little love on her blog for when she gets back home, i'm sure she'd love it!

I'm so excited to see the new precious baby! And to spoil her with all things girly! Rachel's water broke in the wee hours of the morning and she had a scheduled c section for monday! ACK! SO they rushed her in and she had a c-section in the middle of the night. I havent seen her yet (insert my boohoo here). I did give her a ring this morning and left her a message. The hospital is only a mile frm my house so i'm in heavy restraint to not just drive on over! But i also want to be a good friend and now crowd. I'll see the baby soon enough i suppose. That is if i dont completely cave and go in a little later today. :) Maybe i'll just take something yummy to eat and leave it there. What can c-section mommies eat???

Anyhoo - to pass the time i made her a little welcome baby card.

I purposely bought this sweet pea stamp from great impressions just to make this card! I just thought the image was so cute! The Welcome Little One sentiment i also bought just for this card and i've been waiting since i bought it at the stamp expo in september (you know, the one i walked around for hours trying to get my own bambino to come out!) so i was super excited to ink them up today!

I colored the image with copic markers (of course) and totally forgot to highlight with my white gel pen. I still probably will. haha. I restamped the image and colored the flower and then trimmed it out to pop up on the card. I always love it when others do this, but i rarely do it myself. I always seem to forget it's an option. I colored on top of the flower and over the baby's blanket with a spica pen. This little girl is gonna be glam, so she needed some sparkles on the card!

My sentiment piece i wanted to do the same scalloped oval theme (i used the large nesties ovals - and decided i need to get the small ovals as well so i can get some better matting going on), but since the sentiment was so long, i ended up with a lot of white space. So i stamped out the image again and cut out another flower (after coloring... dont try to color the little cut out, it'll drive you batty) and then i popped it up as well.

Additional deets...
Cardstock is Sweet Blush from Papertrey Ink, Wild Wasabi from SU and White by Georgia Pacific
Patterened Paper is designer prints in wild wasabi from SU
eyelets are spare parts
ribbon is sweet blush polka dot by papertrey ink

Thanks for stopping by and CONGRATULATIONS RACHEL!

SERIOUSLY????

Ok... 12 hours after i woke up with contractions... i'm still at home. No labor for me today. The contractions have continued, but just not at the 411 scenario. Argh. I took a walk today... for over an hour until my feet couldnt take it anymore. Plus it was just darn hot outside. After i got home i decided to make my hubby go to a chinese food run. He thought i was crazy, but agreed to make the trip. While he was out getting me some hopefully labor inducing food, i made this card for a friend. She is a SUPURB lady who is just the sweetest thing since hawaiian bread (which i ate an entire thing of yesterday, no joke). Her mom has recently gotten very ill and she's gone to see her. I'm extremely close to my mom and just cant imagine her being sick at all so i'm really feeling for my friend. Its one of those things i simply cant help with, but i wanted her to know i was thinking about her. So i made this card. It's simple (i'm having contractions mind you), and i'm only HOPING it makes her smile a little.

I used yam cardstock by Bazzill for my base. I love this color. And if you havent noticed lately, i'm a little in a fall state of mind. The other pieces of cardstock are simply scraps so i couldnt really tell you the colors and brands.
The main image is from one of the Figgy Pudding stamp sets by Basic Grey. So yes, it's a christmas stamp used in a fall fashion. I stamped the wreath on glossy cardstock (again, it was a scrappy do on my table, this would have worked with any cardstock) and rich cocoa memento ink. I then took stickles to color in my berries (which i did orange to be more fall than christmas). I colored my leaves with the only green stickles i had which was eucalyptus (i need to get another green i've decided as this one just didnt show enough) and then the bird i did with red stickles. All of my edges are inked with cats eye chalks (chestnut roan, amber clay, dark moss and maroon). My scallop border was made with Stampin Up's border punch.
The 2 brads in the corner are by Spare Parts. The sentiment stamp is one of the ones i picked up at the Stamp expo. It's by Savvy.

And there you have it kids. Now i'm off to get a 2nd plate of Kung Pao Chicken. Wish me luck!

Ok - so my hubby is out of town on a fishing trip with the boys. And then of course i felt awful last night (pregnancy wise). Go figure right? I felt queasy with a bad headache. So i decided to make coffee at 9:30 at night. Probably not the best of ideas. The jackster fell asleep on top of me on the couch around 10:30 so i just moved him into my bedroom. I curled up and was ready to go to sleep myself but i couldnt get this Nichole Heady card outta my head. Then i started thinking about stamps i could use the "wall background" with that i owned since i havent yet gotten my "out on a limb" set from PTI. Then my brain just wouldnt stop. "oh i could use one of my 'fluffie' (as jack calls them) stamps", "ooo, i could add fun flock to make them fuzzy (another thing i've seen done to flowers on cards and just not yet tried)", "ooo i could use chalks and versamark". My brain just kept going anf going and i know anytime i obsess with something like that before bed then i'll dream about it all night long and it wakes me up and it's just a pain. So i drag myself out of bed and made these 2 cards (because i couldnt decide what color cardstock to use. I think i hyped myself up on them a little too much because now i just think there is something else that needs done. I may try to make them again since i've had sleep and am not loopy on coffee. :)

But in any case - here are my late night creations...
