Where do the days go?

>> Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Don't you hate it when your days run away from you? I've felt like that a bit lately. I've even crafted, but the cards havent made it up here on the blog. But, i took lotsa pictures today so i should be prepared for at least a few days! haha!

Today is St. Patty's Day! We love St Patricks day in my family. I have an irish background, so it's always been a fun holiday to celebrate.

Last night i met with some of my bella friends at Funkie Munkie Scraps. We call it the Bella Club. :) Each month i prepare a project for the club members to do. This is what we made last night...

We used GoodLuckaBella and stephanie graciously gave away the stamp to a randomly drawn club member. How fun, huh?!

And do you see that fun pot of gold? Thats using the My Time Made Easy Bouncing Baby Buggy (you know, the one i made into an easter basket, then a coffee cup and not a pot of gold... Lauren made it into a boat, a wheelbarrow a basket, it's really the endless template!)

My original thought was to fill up the "pot of gold" using those gold covered chocolate coins but i was unsuccessful finding them. Seriously? It's st patricks day! I checked all over the place! SO i used some chuck e cheese coins instead. :)

Chuck E Cheese coins are more coveted in my house anyway!

I opted to not fold in the top of the basket so that i'd have enough room to tie around a ribbon. I also used the Paper Dolls cricut cartridge to cut out a shamrock and add it to the pot. I used soem chalks to add a little definition.

Here's a close up view of the card we made...

So thats what i have for ya today! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

I'M BAAAAAACK!

>> Friday, February 19, 2010

Whew, that turned out to be a little bit longer of a hiatus than i expected!
But after my little break, i had too busy of a week to get crafty! I have however, organized a list
of craft supplies that i'm selling that will be posted shortly, i made a project for a class (which you'll see in a minute) and i worked a political ad campaign (doing makeup on set) so it has indeed been a busy week!

Here is a little project that I made for a class at Funkie Munkie Scraps....

My original thought is that little seed packets can go inside the paper holder which just slides out when you pull on the ribbon. But a lot of things could go in there really! The template design was my own, but super easy to make. Just construct one half of a box and then measure paper to go around it! :)

Here is a photo with it opened up...

Now i didnt get a great detail shot of the flowers, but it's the new ultrafine flowersoft! I love this flowersoft much more so than the original. The texture is devine and not too chunky. It's really easy to work with too!

Here's a close up of the card, you can see the flowersoft a wee bit better here....

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

If you are in the mood for a challenge, dont forget to take a peek at this week's Makeup 4 the Weekend challenge at Paper Makeup Stamps! I hope to participate over the weekend!

This bella is a flutter for you!

>> Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Ok, so this was totally supposed to post yesterday! No idea what happened there! haha!

When trying to think of a fun project to display for the bella club meeting i belong to with Funkie Munkie Scraps, i immediately thought of Butterflyabella and using My Time Made Easy's All A Flutter template!
I mean the 2 just go hand in hand together so well!!!

First i used my SCAL to cut out the All A Flutter template. Perhaps i should have scaled it down a weeeeeee bit. Bella looks a smidgen small haha. You'd think i had used the mini butterflyabella that comes with her, but no. I just made the All A Flutter box THAT big! I love the option of making things so large though when i can use a 12x12 mat instead of just printing on 8.5 x11 paper. ;)

What do i love about this template? Well a lot of things really! The cost, a mere 5 dollars.
Cuteness factor - way high. Easy to put together. But one of the best things... the easy to put together and cutness factor work with each other in a way that it's a no brainer! Not sure that makes sense, but what i mean is, you can gussy it up to the high heavens, and it's definitely amazing, but you can also stick to it's basics and it's still a super d duper cute project. Which means if you are using it for a gift, it can be quick and easy with minimal products making it a great packaging and then YOU look good, but it really was a sinch. This is kinda a must when you are a busy crafter! People expect your handmade gifts, and sometimes, you just dont have the time to make them! So viola - the All A Flutter Box is just perfect!

For this project, i've decided to fill it with some cards (as you will see above. Depending on where you choose to position your base or basket like compartment of the template, you can either make your cards very visible or tucked away nicely inside. The choice is up to you!

Here is a closeup of Ms Butterflyabella...

I have simply stamped out the image, colored is and then roughly cut around it before adhering it directly to the All A Flutter box.

Here is a close up of the cards i've made to go inside the butterfly...

It is a very simple card layout, but they were made entirely from scraps from when i put the All A Flutter butterfly together. My first card even had the cardbase out of the scraps! :) You gotta love that! The sentiment is also from stamping bella.

whats that? a POST?!

>> Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Ok, so this is the time of year when posting becomes a little more difficult. There is always events at school and other misc things taking up time that makes finding craft time a little more, um, rare. And then half the things that I make this time of year I cant post on my blog because they are christmas gifts and I don't want the recipients to see them! But today i was ready to post and i realized i hadnt posted since last thursday and the post before that was 5 days prior. I was like, holy moly where did the time go!

So i will try to make sure i have some more things to post here! I have a fun announcement coming up (shh, cant say yet, it's a secret!) and I have quite a few makeup videos that need editting. I was only going to post the makeup videos on my makeup blog, but i had such a great response from my readers to post them here too! So i will. Maybe it will help my blog not be so vacant. hahahahaha!

Ok, onto my project for today!

This little gift card holder was created with some inspiration (and exact measurements, thank you!) from Jen Del Muro.

Slip off the ribbon to open the box!

I stuffed the inside of the box with some matching tissue paper. You wouldnt have to do this. The gift box does hold any standard gift card perfectly, but you could also put some jewelry or any other small trinket inside! It was so super easy to make, i can see myself making lots of these little boxes to use as gifts. The template could easily be modified as well so you would never get bored with it!

and now for...

It's a bella beach party!

>> Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Hello everyone!  I'm a little late posting this project i did last week for Funkie Munkie's Bella Club!  I wasnt able to be there at the club meeting (so sad!) but this little beach bag was super fun and easy to make, they didnt need me!  :)

First, here's the project...

The basket template i made myself.  If there is enough interest, i may post a little tutorial on how i made it.  It was very easy to put together.
You can fill it with all kinds of beachie goodies (think suntan lotion, a pair of sunglasses, lip balm, maybe a book or magazine to read.  Wouldnt it make a fabby gift?

Here's a closer view of beachabella...

The outside of the basket can be decorated however you wish.  I kept mine very simple because the club gals can then do to it whatever they'd like.  But i think some buttons would really "make" it.  Dont you?

Here's

How Do You Feel Today?

>> Monday, June 22, 2009

First of all, let me give a shout out to Kim for becoming a Grandma today!  I swear if you saw her you wouldnt think she even had a 10 year old, let alone a child who was old enough to birth another child!  Kim is just fantastic herself and i'm so excited for her to be in this next journey in her life!

Anyhoo - Kim also helps to run the bella club over at Funkie Munkie Scraps (which by the way, tomorrow or rather probably today by the time you are reading this since i'm posting VERY late, is the last day for the July featureabella contest).  Kim had said she'd whip up the project for the club this month and um... hello!  You need to be a grandma first!  SO this was just a quickie project i came up with to do at the club tonight.  It was super easy to make and lots of fun.  We used 4 different bellas but it would be VERY easy to add to it.  :)

Here's our How I Feel Today project...

I really wanted to have a feelabella in there for those days that we just are plain sick but *GASP* she's a bella i actually do not own!  How in the world do i not own such an essential bella like feelabella!  I know i have some images of her, but then they wouldnt be cut with my neato cricut cartridge.  *sigh* for shame, i guess i'll have to buy her.  When Steph gets her back in stock at Funkie Munkie of course.  hehehehehehe.

Other than that every thing was made out of the scrap bin and you gotta love those projects!

Here's what you'll need...

3 x 12 piece of sturdy cardstock.
Really Strong adhesive
bind it all (those that are in the club and will get this kit via snail mail, yours will be punched for you and you can just pinch the clips closed, it's easy i promise)
Coloring medium of choice
Embellishments of choice
4 pennies
The phrase and words have been printed just on my computer.  Those in the club will get them.  Those just making it for fun, can print your own.  hehehehe.

Now, take your strip of cardstock and score it at 4.5, 9, and 11.5.  This is to create your triangle.  That extra half inch is just to glue to the backside to keep it together.

Are you asking what the heck the pennies are for?  I glues the to the 4 corners underneath the whole thing.  You'd be amazed what a difference it makes.  I tried to just flip to the next bella and knocked the thing over.  So i glued pennies to the understand (using fabritac, glue dots would work too) and no more knocking over.

Easy peasy!

Bella clutch take 2

>> Sunday, June 14, 2009

So it's amazing what i'm finding in my computer that i havent posted on my blog. Woops. Looks like i could have been posting this past week afterall! Well, that would have required me to sit in one place for more than 10 minutes!

My class/copic club meeting at Funkie Munkie went fabulously yesterday. Everyone really seemed to enjoy coloring in black and white. I have photos of my sample images taken, but i've decided to go ahead and wait til i actually get them put on a card to post them here on my blog! But i will say that i do adore how it turned out and my marathon search for my tilda stamp (for those that follow me on twitter) was well worth it in the end. :)

Here is take 2 on the bella clutch i made for last month's bella club at Funkie Munkie. After i had finished it and took it into the munkie, Stephanie said she loved it, but she had a confession to make, she forgot what paper i had requested and she had let one of the other design team members take ALL of the pink polka dot paper!!!! I mean every single last sheet! And Steph needed to mail kits out to the club members pronto. ACK! So we changed the color scheme and pulled some new paper and created a new bella clutch. For all intents and purposes, it looks pretty much the same. Not as much detail, i.e. no stitching, because i wanted o create the new one ASAP but it just goes to show what a lifesaver Lauren Meader's templates can be! I worked this new little clutch up in seriously 10 minutes... MAYBE! It might have taken me LESS! Really, when all you have to do is print, cut out, score, fold and tape... and bada bing bada boom, you're done.... it's fantastic! Tiny plug, she has new templates coming out tonight at midnight! And one of them is seriously the cutest picnic basket i've ever seen! I WILL be purchasing it! Thank goodness it's a download and she cant sell out because i dont know that i can stay awake til midnight! hahaha.

SORRY! i'm wordy today! Onto the clutch!

Still cute right? Just think of it this way, every girl has to have her favorite purse in multiple colors, right? This is bella's summery clutch for when she's hitting the boardwalk. hahahahaha.

Look cardfully at the base... thats some embossed cardstock by bazzill. It comes in a variety of different embossing designs and it retails for the exact same time as all the other bazzill. Nice! And it comes in a variety of colors. Funkie Munkie does carry quite a bit of this stuff, so you can check it out for yourself if you are local.

A Bella Clutch

>> Friday, May 29, 2009

Hi everyone! Sorry new stuff never went up on the "feeding the habit" blog. My camera wouldnt charge for me, so i was stuck. I think it's charged now though so i'll be off to take more pictures after i get this post up. :)

This is my entry for Lauren Meader's My Timeless Template challenge over at Stampin Out Alzheimer's event

I also needed to create something for the Bella Club meeting at Funkie Munkie Scraps this saturday. Did you know you can use Lauren's templates like that? You can! You just have to keep all copyright into printed onto the template! And i thought her templates would be perfect since we need a project to do, but it's isnt really a full on class. PERFECT! And i'm hoping that the ladies in the club will realize how perfect Lauren's Templates are and go purchase some of their own! :)

I used her Purseonality Clutch template to create this little bella clutch! Inside I've filled it with stamped out bella images, some baubles and other emBELLAshments and something that every girl needs.... CHOCOLATE! :)

Here's the finished project...

I was really pleased with how it came out and how fast it was able to come together! I printed the bottom out on Bazzill Cardstock (that i forgot to check the color on, SORRY!) and then the top (a separate template design making it super easy to have 2 colors) onto Bittersweet Bazzill Cardstock. The patterned paper i cut slightly smaller and then adhered it to the top side of the template centering it where i wanted and THEN i scored it. It makes it a lot easier to adhere it first so that way the score lines are perfectly fit together! I then ran it thru my sewing machine to give that true purse look. :) I followed this same process to the handle.

The bella is the mini Contentobeabella that comes with the larger version. She was the PERFECT size for this project!!!!

Bella club with Content-a-Bella and some fantastic blog candy!

>> Thursday, May 14, 2009

Ok, first off, you would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in my craft room today because i'm sure it was quite funny to anyone but me! I have quite a few projects i was determined to get done. Which means a lot of stuff out. My hair disheveled. etc. Thats funny enough, i'm sure. But now add Mr. Fussy Britches into the mix. This would be my baby (who turns 8 months old today!). Poor little bugger is cutting his first 2 teeth. His gums are so swollen and red with the little white peeks showing his teeth trying to burst free. He is just miserable. He doesnt want to even nurse because they are so sore. He's not very happy even with me holding him, but putting him down just turns him into a mess. SO... today i became the Amazing One Armed crafter! I did things with one hand that i would never have thought possible. And let me tell you, using a guillotine trimmer with only one arm, all while standing in a precarious position to make sure little baby fingers could in no way even come close to the blade... that takes some talent! I also resorted to using my chin to get the cuttlebug crank started until it was in there enough that it could hold itself while i cranked. Yes... i'm sure it was hilarious.

But, amazing enough, i did get my projects done today. A secret sister gift that i have to deliver tomorrow (in my local group, and of course the deadline is tomorrow... whew). A card for a friend that i'll post probably sometime next week because I wouldnt want them to see it on my blog before they get it! And then the card i'm about to show you. :)

I present to you, Content-to-be-a-bella! Isnt she cute. I love her. She's from Stamping Bella. Bella stamps were my first "love" in the stamping world. I own so many it's not even funny. And sadly, they've been getting lonley the past couple of weeks. it's was nice to get a little bella boost. She always looks so happy. Well, unless she's grumpabella. hahahha.

Contenttobeabella is part of the May Bella Bundle available for Southernbella club members. You dont have to live here to be in the club. You can check out the blog to get more info about this deal, the club, and all that. And really... you SHOULD go check it out because there is some FABULOUS blog candy going on over there. I mean like, over $200 bucks worth! It's INSANE! You have to check it out! :) You dont have to be a club member to win the candy, or participate in the challenges for that matter.

OK... i'm wordy today! :) Close up view! Card details! Keep reading!

There's still time for Bella!

>> Monday, May 4, 2009

Hi everyone!!! For my bella lovin' sistahs.... there is still time for you to join the Bella Club at Funkie Munkie. Yes Funkie Munkie is a store, but they are doing their bella club online! You can check out the club blog here or use the picture link in my sidebar.

When you join the club you get this LOVELY bella sampler in a kit.

Now I cant take full credit for this beauty. Stephanie (owner of Funkie Munkie) went to a convention in Boston where she met the Queen of Bella, Emily herself. They made an adorable Bella sampler there which was pretty much just like this one. But since we wanted to do this as the bella club kick off, we needed to recreate it using products we had. Some a few things are a little different, but the creative genious behind this project stems from the highest of Bella powers. hahahahaha.

Lisa (stephanie's sis-in-law) and I worked on finding some substitutes for things and then I put it together and colored bits and pieces of it with my trusty copic markers. :)

Over the weekend, this bella sampler was available as a make n take for $8 but was free for all club members. Club members that have joined but arent able to make it to the store will have the kit mailed to them. And there is still time to join to get your kit for free If you are interested send an email to funkiemunkiescraps@gmail.com The club is well worth your monthly fee to get free make n takes, and up to a 30-35% discount on some preorders. Different discounts available all the time. Email steph for more info.

Ketto Tuesday & some Bella Candy!!!

>> Thursday, April 23, 2009

So i've had my ketto stamps for entirely too long to have not used them yet! Seriously! It's bad! SO i finally got Kenya Ketto (from Stamping Bella) inky! I decided with the name Kenya, she definitely needed to have a darker skintone than my typic colors i grab! Plus, i wanted to do something special for some of my fav ladies that take my classes at Funkie Munkie! :) They know who they are!!!!!

Here is my card...

I wanted this card to be super bright and fun! So i used some super fun papers from American Crafts. I paired it with black cardstock for a nice contrast. :) There are Kaisercraft pearls in black (now isnt that fun!) in the center of her flowers on her dress and on his wish stick.

Kenya is colored with copic markers. Here's the rundown for my copic lovin' fans...

Skin: E34, E45, E04 (cheeks)
Dress: Reds are R17, R27, Yellows are Y32, Y35, Y38, Oranges are YR14, YR16, YR18, Blue is B00

Holy moly! My gal Christi checking on me today to make sure i was ok because i had disappeared. I didnt even realize i had disappeared! haha! Thats how busy it's been around my house! Valentine's Day parties galore for my near 3 year old. I had a class Thursday night on coloring at the Funkie Munkie. I had no idea i would have so many ladies interested but we had SO MUCH FUN! This will definitely be a monthly thing! And then yesterday i was spending some quality family time. I do have some stuff to show ya today though, just gotta get it all on my computer! And i'm heading to a stamp camp hosted by the lovely Rachel over at Funkie Munkie so that'll be fun.

And it turns out when i cleaned my comptuer the other day i wiped off all the postings and projects i had. grrr. I still have it all on my external drive, just gotta fish it all out. BUT this did survive so i'm going to use it as a teaser for the bella calendar class thats coming up a week from today over at the Funkie Munkie...

Bella Tuesday

>> Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Ugh, I'm not sure i've even up to posting after the day i've had today! I'm afraid my computer might go on the fritz on me and explode. Yep, it's been that kind of day. I wont even bore you with the details, but lets just say if it was gonna happen, it happened to me today (all the way to my dog bringing me a dead bird). Yep, just one of those days.

I had a sort of private class this morning (which went very well) and i traded in for some yummy new stamps from The Greeting Farm. I had lunch with a friend which was nice because we havent had the chance to hang out like we used to. Then the day just went downhill. And thats where i'll stop.

Here's a card i created for a beginners card class. The objective of the card will be to teach paper piecing.

All of Ms Bella's outfit is paper pieced right down to the baby sling. The paper chosen for the paper piecing is the same as the paper used for other parts of the card. Her skin, hair, broom and pail are colored with copics.

Paper is by Kaisercraft and cardstock is by Bazzill.

Now as my friend Kelly told me i need to do... i'm going to go have a calgon moment.

a bella card

>> Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Thank you so so much for all the emails and well wishes i got! Yesterday was really bad. I thought the pain was bad sunday but i was mistaken! Luckily greg was home and took care of the boys for me. Of course the boys were all out of sorts and jack came in crying asking if he could take me to the medicine house because he just wanted me to feel better. It broke my heart! But finally we're seeing some light at the end of the tunnel!

Ok, i just felt like i should post that since i've gotten so many emails! (again, thanks so much, you sure do make a girl feel loved!)

Now onto my card...

i actually started this card on saturday for the Bella Homepage contest. I used my new Jugglabella from Stamping Bella. Man, am i excited i can get these locally now! This card in particular you can see at Funkie Munkie Scraps and will be included in some of the cards we'll be making in one of my classes. I havent figured out which one yet, probably the coloring class on the 12th.

Now i love jugglabella. You could easily mask out those hearts and put a whole slew of things in there. I'm sure I will at some point, but right now we're nearing february so hearts it is!

The paper is by American Crafts and the line is called Romantic. All of the paper is double sided and thick (think cardstock) with a solid color on one side, and the patterened paper on the other side. So it's fantastic to use because you always have your coordinating cardstock!. I used bazzill cardstock for my base. And those fun little pom poms? Thats the new Daisy Bucket ribbon. it's so fun! It's almost like paper. You can rip it, stamp on it, rub on it, curl it, crinkle it... endless possibilities! very neat stuff! It sells at FM for $5 a spool (which has 10 yards on it). I'm thinking of doing a bulk buy swap with it, so if you are interested, please let me know.

Ok, thats it for now. I feel miserably behind on everything so i'm going to try and get caught up.

Good news though - i'm hoping to have the Paper Makeup Stamps in by the end of the week!!!! YIPPIEEEEE! More new on a release date soon when i have everything!

Remembering my childhood with The Greeting Farm

>> Monday, January 19, 2009

Marie at The Greeting Farm is hosting a super fun challenge using one of her digi stamps. You can read all about her challenge here and you have until this wednesday (Janurary 21st) to enter! What have ya got to lose? Marie's drawing style is just awesome and all the images are fantastic. You should really check it out.

Ok, onto my card.

I was really feelin' my childhood when i made this card! The colors are very atypical for me but after maria mentioned My Little Ponies, i was so there! I was actually a bigger fan of Rainbow Brite! Seriously, i was rainbow brite 2 or 3 different halloweens! My mom just had to keep re-adjusting the costume so it would fit me the following year! So when i saw this cutie unicorn, i thought of Starlight ("the most magnificent horse in the universe"). Of course starlight wasnt a unicorn but his hair was multicolored. After i colored the image, i just went from there to make the card.
And at that point i have no idea what i did because i made this card at midnight while everyone else was asleep! So i may drag a little bit today, but at least i had fun last night cardmaking, right? :)

ETA: sorry, other deets on the card. The cardstock is PTI. I have no clue on the patterned paper. haha. And the sentiment is by stamping bella. :)

I'm in love with a Munkie

>> Thursday, January 8, 2009

A FUNKIE MUNKIE! hehe. Today i went into a new scrap store close to my house and - OMG! I fell in LOVE! I mean my heart was swooning all over the place! The gals that own sure do know what I like. hahahhahaha.

For starters... they have BELLAS! My heart could have leapt out of my chest right then and there! Then i saw the copics! And all the bling! Oh me oh my i was in HEAVEN!

And a further bonus - she loved the faerie image from Paper Makeup Stamps! YIPPIE! She said they would love to carry the stamp line in their store because they strongly believe in local business!

Then i showed her my blog to prove that i was as die hard a copic and bella fan as i claimed to be. And she said she'd like me on the design team! I'm sure i need to actually submit some stuff with things from their store and what not first. But still! Cloud 9! I am on CLOUD 9!

I was very very bad, and bought. I didnt buy a ton, but i did want to get a few things that i could be using for their design team! *evil smile*
Here's my loot...

A bella sentiment stamp
A bella baby stamp
a copic ciao marker
2 packs of kaiserkraft pearls
2 packs of kaiserkraft bling
6 sheets of patterend paper
1 sheet of polkadotted texture cardstock (bigger than swiss dots, SO cute)

and
a fantastic primsa swirly bling thingy

All of that for 25 bucks! And that included TAX! Great prices!

And here is the card i made today with a bella and sentiment i already owned BUT she had them for sale in the store. I'm going to go and take my card to her tomorrow and resist buying anything else! but i am taking friends that i'm sure will buy things. hehehe.

Patterned paper is Amplified Summer of Love by American Crafts (it's double sided - patterened on one side, solid brown on the other)
Cardbase is by Bazzill (sorry i forgot to check the color but if you need it let me know and i'll check it to my swatch book)
