Whew - it's been a busy coupla days! I do have card for you though using the PMS sketch challenge! I had to take a break from cutting rubber, i'm literally getting blisters on my fingers! haha.

Here is my card...

I peeked into the Etsy Inspired Hop today (super fun and these ladies are seriously talented! There's lots of chatter going on HERE if you want to chat it up today but go thru the blog hop starting HERE. You have until Tuesday March 3rd to upload your entries and there are great prizes to be won!

I comboed 2 challenges which probably isnt allowed but I was the sponsor for one of the challenges so i'm not wanting to win my own prize anyway! haha. Lindsay's challenge is to not use any patterned paper and Kerry's challenge was to use circle only embellishments.

Top that off with the sketch challenge that i already mentioned and the card came together pretty easily. Ya gotta love it when that happens!!!

Here are the other deets...
Stamps - Emma fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps
Patterned Paper - NONE
Cardstock - Groovy Guava (SU), Splash (bazzill), Aqua Mist (PTI), Princess (Bazzill)
Colored with Copics: Skin E00, E31; Hair E53 tip to tip shaded with E57, Dress RV02 with RV06, Umbrella is YR02 (THANKS TO SHAELA!), with YR04, wings BG000 with B00. Water is BG000 and C1 shadows the entire image.
Extras - new punch by EK Success, buttons from the stash. :)

I was so excited to do this tutorial. I really wanted to do it 2 ways, 1 using markers, and 1 using some special effects makeups i have. Let me tell you, the reason this didnt go up sooner this month is I have looked high and low for my makeup palette (no cheap palette either, it cost me over 100 bucks) and it is NO WHERE to be found! Now i dont do special effects makeup nearly as often as I used to when i was living in Los Angeles, but man is it frustrating!

So since my reign as the monthly pin up gal is over soon (sob sob), i decided i'd just focus on using markers which is ok because it's not like everyone has the makeup palette anyway!

Ok, so here it goes! First i started with Mermaid Treasure, inked her up in skin safe ink (the tattoo ink on the bombshell site is FABULOUS!)

Now let that ink set for just a minute or 2. This will help to not bleed when you are coloring your image in.

Next grab some "skin safe" markers. I just use Roseart kiddo markers. No, kiddo is not a technical term. It means they are the markers i allow my 3 year old to use.
First i started with a peach tone for her skin...

Next use a very light brown and add to the edges for some shading. You can then blend the 2 together with a VERY slightly mositened q-tip. The photo is just of the shading.

Next i moved on to her tail. Go over the whole tail in your main color. I chose a very light aqua. You can then go around the outside with the same marker again to darken. We'll do a little more shading in a bit.

Next i went to her hair. I chose browns because yellow for blondes isnt a tremendously popular tattoo ink color because it is the most common color to cause skin reactions. It also fades more quickly. I used 2 different brown colors to get some depth.

Next grab a pink or red marker and go over her lips. You may need to do this a few times letting the ink dry a moment to really get those lips to pop.

Now the last step is an important one in my preference. The vibrant ink f the markers tend to wash out your stamp outline and black ink in tattoos does not typically look very grey! So i take a black marker and outline my image. Bonus, you can take your other marker colors and run along the edges of black to pick up a little ink and it will really help you shade in your image!

Last but not least, it's good to set your colored image. This will just help it stay put. When doing fake tattoos for films etc, i also spritz on a makeup sealer. Ben Nye makes a very afforable one that you'd be able to find at most costume and party stores. Then take a powder (preferably a "loose" powder to dab over the top. I use a very large velour sponge, but a brush would work as well. This will help to "dull up" the tattoo giving it a more worn look and less like it was just painted on!

And there you have it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

PMS Sunday

>> Sunday, February 22, 2009

Hey everyone! Has blogger been acting up for anyone else?! I havent been able to hardly make a comment on someone's blog let alone post on my own without it crashing out on me. Very obnoxious if i do say so myself, and i do!

I've got another Paper Makeup Stamps card for you and some information about the upcoming release!

First, here's the card! I have actually had Penelope colored for quite some time. It was high time i got her put on a card where she belonged! When i saw this paper (DCWV) at the Funkie Munkie the other day, i just knew it was wear Penny belonged!

Isnt this paper just GORGEOUS! On top of it's rich color and fabulous glitter, there are so many different elements to the same sheet that i know i can use it on countless different cards. There is a lot of mileage in this one sheet of 12x12!

Penelope here is from Paper Makeup Stamps. She is one of the first fairies and was originally intended for Chinese New Year. Seeing as that was almost a month ago (yep, i had this image colored for a Chinese New Year card (which is why her dress is red) but even though there is no red in the patterened paper, i still thought it worked. I used a red cardstock base to tie it all together! She is colored with copics and i'm going to try my best to remember the copic colors used! Skin: E51 and E53 (yes, totally different from my normal skin tones - since she is asian i wanted her to have a more yellowed skin tone that the very peachy tone of the E00). Dress: R27 and R29. Good Luck charm: Y17, Y38 and E25 (yes, brown shadows yellow nicely for "gold"). Wings: BG000 shaded with itself (and COVERED in Star Dust stickles). Hair C5, C7 and C9. I also used the Colorless Blender a bit in her hair and used a Sakura souffle pen for highlights.

OH and i almost forgot the March 1st release news! I went ahead and put all the new fairies (there are 4 of them and you are going to LOVE them) as well as the 5 new monsters, 2 quotes that come in 2 sizes and a few more smaller quotes and simple sentiments on the website for preorder! AND PMS is also going to carry the Nestabilities line as well as the new Impressabilities. They are all up there for preorder as well! AND there is a discount on all the preorders AND all the preorders will receive a little freebie from moi.

So there you have it, a card, prerelease news and... well i guess that was about it. hahaha. I'll try to get the rest of my bella calendar loaded into the computer and post those pics a little later! :)

PMS sneak peek!

>> Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Today i have a sneak peek of one of the new fairies to be released March 1st from Paper Makeup Stamps.

There is a poll over on the PMS blog on what her name should be!

I'm not so sure about my sketch on this card. I knew the paper i wanted to use. I colored her accordingly. I started cutting my patterened paper and then i realized i had no idea what i was doing with my card. I tried a few different layouts and this was the one i came up with. It's a little odd, but for some reason i kinda like it.

Anyhoo - here are the deets on the card
Colored with Copic Markers (and for my class gals, the bold means it was my main color choice, the others were for shading, blending and highlighting) Skin: E000, E00, E31. Hair :E21, E 25, 0 (colorless blender). Shirt & shoes: E93, E95, 0 (cb). Shorts: E25, E27. Ground: E41, E43, E44, 0. Sprout: G94, G99. Wings and water: B000, B01, spica pen in clear. Shadow around entire image W1.

Patterened Paper: Infuse by Basic Grey

Cardstock: Chocolate by Paper Trey Ink, Sorbet by Close to my Heart

Embellies: bellas baubles, primas

and i just have to post this picture of the baby from yesterday. its so durn cute! but then i'm a little biased...

Bombshell Tuesday

>> Tuesday, February 17, 2009

I've been dying to ink up my bombshell stamps and hadnt had the moment lately! Now if you remember my sassy mc frassy valentine's day card for my hubby (with the scantilly clad pin up girl) that was a bombshell stamp. I love the sassiness of their stamps! BUT i did want to show you the versatility of alot of these sets.

Now here i've used the butterflies from that same set, called Butterfly Queen. The sentiment is one of the small quote sizes from Paper Makeup Stamps.

Ok, here's dome details for this card...
The Butterflies are colored in with copic markers. (colors used: y15, then shaded with y17 and y38). I went along the outside of the butterflies with B00 and also used B00 to highlight the word Hope in the quote.
Paper: Blue is Aqua Mist by PTI run thru the swiss dot folder in the cuddlebug. Orange is Butterfly (ironically, i did not intend that!) by Bazzill. The black is Paper Studio. I typically use a cheaper and thinner cardstock is it's just going to be a simple mat! :)

PMS Monday

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

Hiya Gals! Did you know that PMS is now going to have color challenges? And for the first color challenge - you can win one of the new releases! So go check it out. :)

Here's my card for the color challenge...

The color challenge is to use Pink and Gray. Simple enough right? I used no patterned paper for this card. Kinda a thing with me the past coupla cards i've made. But i did use my cuddlebug. It needed a little bit of love. :)

The image is Jaina Fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps or more affectionately known as PMS. :) She is colored with Copics and as i promised my ladies in my coloring class - yes i will list all the colors i used! The color in BOLD is the main color, the others are for shading and blending. Her skin is colored with E000, E00 and E21 (yes i used 21 instead of 31, it was closer to me). Her dress is colored with R00 and R11. Her vest and shoes were colored with C1, C3 and C5. Her hair was colored with E33, E35, E37.

Edges were sponged with cats eye chalk ink in charcoal. And the sentiment is from Savvy Stamps.

Dont forget to check out the PMS blog to see everyone else's creations! There is some blog candy over there too so check it out!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

>> Sunday, February 15, 2009

Holy moly! My gal Christi checking on me today to make sure i was ok because i had disappeared. I didnt even realize i had disappeared! haha! Thats how busy it's been around my house! Valentine's Day parties galore for my near 3 year old. I had a class Thursday night on coloring at the Funkie Munkie. I had no idea i would have so many ladies interested but we had SO MUCH FUN! This will definitely be a monthly thing! And then yesterday i was spending some quality family time. I do have some stuff to show ya today though, just gotta get it all on my computer! And i'm heading to a stamp camp hosted by the lovely Rachel over at Funkie Munkie so that'll be fun.

And it turns out when i cleaned my comptuer the other day i wiped off all the postings and projects i had. grrr. I still have it all on my external drive, just gotta fish it all out. BUT this did survive so i'm going to use it as a teaser for the bella calendar class thats coming up a week from today over at the Funkie Munkie...

Life is ful of TREASURE!

>> Thursday, February 12, 2009

Ok, whenever i hear the word treasure, i think of Wow Wow Wubbzy. My son is absolutely obsessed with that show! I'll probably be singing the Life is full of treasure song all day now. Fantastic. Ok, not really.

But you know what IS fantastic?? Bombshell Stamps! Seriously, if you havent checked out these stamps yet.. please do! They are SO fun! At first glance they are totally sassy and very sexy. I love that! I love that many of them look like they belong on a sailor's arm! haha. But they can be really pretty too! I love stamps with versatility!

On this card i used Mermaid Treasure. I decided to go with the It's Your Lucky Day (afterall, mermaids ARE lucky) sentiment. It makes the card work for a lot of different occasions. But the sentiment i reeeeeally like on this set is "check out the booty". hehehehe. LOVE that! I think maybe i'll make another card for my hubby someday using that sentiment. *grin*

Here's my card...

I used some very "oceanie" colors. They are colors that scream mermaid to me for some reason. hehe. I used my copics to color her in and then used a glue pen on top and sprinkled glitter ALL over her tail. it's super glittery and i tried to take another picture so you could see some of the glitz...

I also used a gold spica pen all over the gold in the treasure chest and a white gel pen to add some gleaming highlights off of the gold.

This was definitely a fun set to use. There are lots of other stamps in the set like a ship steering wheel, some seaweed, and then some little guys like the fish on the card, a hibiscus flower, a lock, key, etc. Lots of fun stuff in this one too! :)

Bella Tuesday

>> Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Ugh, I'm not sure i've even up to posting after the day i've had today! I'm afraid my computer might go on the fritz on me and explode. Yep, it's been that kind of day. I wont even bore you with the details, but lets just say if it was gonna happen, it happened to me today (all the way to my dog bringing me a dead bird). Yep, just one of those days.

I had a sort of private class this morning (which went very well) and i traded in for some yummy new stamps from The Greeting Farm. I had lunch with a friend which was nice because we havent had the chance to hang out like we used to. Then the day just went downhill. And thats where i'll stop.

Here's a card i created for a beginners card class. The objective of the card will be to teach paper piecing.

All of Ms Bella's outfit is paper pieced right down to the baby sling. The paper chosen for the paper piecing is the same as the paper used for other parts of the card. Her skin, hair, broom and pail are colored with copics.

Paper is by Kaisercraft and cardstock is by Bazzill.

Now as my friend Kelly told me i need to do... i'm going to go have a calgon moment.

Dreck from Paper Makeup Stamps

>> Sunday, February 8, 2009

We had a birthday party today so i made this card for the birthday boy. I also gave him the stamp of dreck because he's like his momma and he loooooves to stamp and make cards. And all little boys who stamp should at least have monster stamps. :)

Here's my card...

I just love this guy. I think confused looking monsters are my favorite. haha. For those that havent seen this guy yet... his name is Dreck and he's from Paper Makeup Stamps.

I used Jen Del Muro's "sketch for you to try" from yesterday. I love Jen's sketches! The paper is all various scraps from the scrap bin. Gotta use those scraps. I think there is a little bit from just about every paper company on this card. haha. The little extra embellies there on the bottom are from Stamping Bella.

Ok, thats all i got for now. Hope to see ya'll (yes, i said ya'll, i think i'm officially becoming southern!) soon!

LOOOOOONG Week

>> Saturday, February 7, 2009

Holy Moly it's been a long week and i have to admit... i'm reeeeeally glad it's over!!!! I have barely had time to these past 2 weeks! First starting with kidney stones, then trying to play catch up with designs for my Funkie Munkie card classes, then the rubber for Paper Makeup Stamps coming in (yippieee), then getting those prepared, then going out of town to teach at the American College Theatre Festival (teaching makeup workshops) and then back to a LOT of ez mount and other products for the site), onto a lot of mounting and trimming for custom orders and then off to packing and shipping. Yes, i am very very VERY tired. Can i tell you how glad i was that my Mom came into town this week! She leaves tomorrow though. *heavy sigh*

Ok, so now thats all my excuses for where the heck i've been for the past week. Sad thing is i've had stuff to post, just no time to do it! Sadly i've missed reading some of my favorite blogs too and i missed Hip Hop completely! (ok, i ducked in to say hi, i couldnt resist).

Here is a card i worked on before the hoopla of this past week really started. It is for the Greeting Farm's Valentine challenge and it uses one of Marie's new digi images.

First of all, it's an anya and an ian all in one image and that just about enough cuteness to make your heart explode. I had so much fun with this. As i started to color the image in i thought of how much the two looked like 2 of my closest friends kiddos. So i decided to color them accordingly. Once I was done, i love the image even more!
My card layout was a little more of a get 'er dun layout. haha. I used some scraps (i think the bigger piece of background paper is basic grey. the polka dot paper is american crafts i know. I added some pearls to the card because they were a must (my friends daughter's middle name is Pearl).

Ok, thats all i got. I actually have more to show but i need to upload more to my computer. I havent even stamped since i started this card on tuesday. It's killing me! So maybe tomorrow night if i'm lucky. But first i gotta clean this room!!!!!!

Rubber is IN!

>> Wednesday, February 4, 2009

All the rubber is now in stock at Paper Makeup Stamps! If you preordered any bare rubber stamps, your orders will be going out today. EZ mount is due in by the end of the week and all other orders will be out by saturday.

I'm not sure you'll see much by the way of posting from me for a few days. I've got lotsa rubbah to cut and i'm also teaching up in Greensboro NC on Friday. I gotta stay faithful to my clients and customers so no new projects for me! However i do know i have some lying around here that i've never posted so we'll see if i can type those up while i'm feeding the baby or something! :)

Paper Makeup Stamp Quotes

>> Monday, February 2, 2009

Ok, i'm doing a little bit of a shameless plug. Did you know that nearly all the quotes from Paper Makeup Stamps come in 2 sizes? (they can also be ordered as bare rubber or on ez mount like all of the other stamps on the site). I'm kinda a quote fanatic. I love love love quote stamps. But i get bummed when the size just isnt what i want. It's no secret that i love love love to color and often use stamp images that i can color. So often times i want to use a quote with an image. So a smaller quote is great. But then sometimes, the quote is all i want to say on a card. But a smaller size stamp just leaves a lot left to be done. :) So a larger stamp would be ideal. Also ideal for scrapbooking or altered projects. So with these things in mind, i really wanted to offer both sizes. And since it's my company and the only one i really have to answer to is me, i did. :)

Here's my card...

I love this quote. What a perfect way to give someone a little support when they are frustrated.

This card is one of the cards we will do in the beginner's card class at the Funkie Munkie. So all of he products are available in the store, or on their website. The paper is by Moxxie. Double sided thick paper. Super fab. It's actually from the bridal line, but this side you'd never know it. I love the colors in the paper too. Depending on which ones you want to pull out and enhance other places of your card (or scrapbook layout) you can really get a different feel. Later this week i'll post another project using this paper and you'll see what i mean.
And you want a close up of these embellishments?! So fun! First, i gotta show you this button!!!!

The picture doesnt really due it justice but i love these buttons! The glitter is inside the button. Funkie Munkie has them in all different colors. If you live around here, go get them while you can or i might buy them all!
I wanted 1 more little oompf to the card so i chose these self adhesive pearls from kaisercraft (priced at a low 1.25!!!) They come in all different colors too! Multiple sizes come on the sheet as well. Here's a close look of 2 of the sizes i used. there are larger ones as well.

2nd post for the day - 29 gifts challenge

>> Sunday, February 1, 2009

this is my 2nd post for today. I realized i had forgotten to blog about my gift for the the day for my 29 gifts in 29 days challenge.

Well today was a pretty easy one. Being that it is Sunday. We went to church this morning and in honor of Super Bowl Sunday the youth group has a SOUPER Bowl fundraiser where they collect money and then in turn go work in one of the soup kitchens (which is something they often do) but they also donate all the money raised today in church to the soup kitchen.

So that was my gift for the day. :)
