The Sky's the Limit!

>> Sunday, August 30, 2009

I have a card that i made for no reason at all! Oh sure, i have sneak peeks to work on, cards for friends i should make, samples for my classes, etc. But i really wanted to use this set and my new paper i got the other day! So this card was born!

At first i was hating it... but in the end i really love how it turned out...

Here is try number 1.... i liked it, but i didnt like how i could barely read the sentiment. I know people stamp on patterned paper all the time and i love how it looks on THEIR cards, but never on my own!

So i restamped it on a scrap piece of white and then matted it. Which do you like better?

This paper is the new paper is all from the new collection called Simple Pleasures by 3 Bugs in a Rug (for my locals... Funkie Munkie Scraps has this paper!). If you loved the In Colors from last year... (which i did) you will love this paper collection! The colors matches perfectly! In fact all the cardstock on my card is Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Red Ridinghood. Since i have all the inks and reinkers, and cardstock for eons that i bought because i had all the inks and reinkers... i think i'll be picking up myself some more of this paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here some detail shots...

I cut out the balloon with my NEW LABELS 9 nestabilties die (shameless plug, Paper Makeup Stamps has all the new nesties in... if I'm out of stock on anything, shoot me an email because i'm getting ready to reorder soon!) I stamped the balloon image (from Fly Away by The Greeting Farm 3 times. Well, actually 4 times. I stamped once on my neenah and colored it in, then cut it out and set it aside. I stamped it again and just colored my edges because i planned on popping the other cut out on top of it. I stamped it a third time and cut it out so that i could use it as a mask with my Copic Airbrush. The 4th time i stamped it over my cardfront just so that my tail would peek out under the cutout piece. Seems like a lot of work, but balloons are very easy to cut out, so it was no biggie. :)

Last month the Farmerz Club i'm a member of (for fans of the Greeting Farm Stamps) the challenge was to use shrink paper. Well, i knew i wanted to shrink the clouds from this set. I was going to work on it at the club meeting but the heat tool has mysteriously disappeared, and then i never got around to it. But i still wanted to do it at some point! So I shrank my little clouds so they were itsy bitsy and kind of button like. So stinkin' cute!

So thats my card for ya today. :) Now i'm off to Frankie's Fun Park with the fam and then back home to work on all my sneak peek cards for next week! ACK! :)

Back to School.... Back to school

>> Saturday, August 29, 2009

Ahhh.... i love the Fall. There are just a lot of things about the Fall that i truly truly love. I think it was the one thing i missed in LA. There really isnt a "fall" there. It's just kinda, cooler than summer. haha.

I love apples. I love apple picking. I love pumpkins and pumpkin pie. I love it not being so muggy. I love the leaves on the trees. I love my hubby being home a little bit more! And now that Jack is getting older, i get to rejoice with the other parents at their children going back to school! HAHAHAHAHA. Ok, so i'm not rejoicing per say. This is the first year that Jack is going to school for 5 days! 5 days in a row! ACK! Good thing it's only until noon. But i do like the extra energy he gets out at school. So thats a good thing!

Here is a card i worked on for Jack to take to his teacher this year. This teacher was also his camp teacher for summer, so we already know and love her. :)

Now this card was also made at the request of Rachel for the Copic Munkie blog. It uses the color bundle available to munkie members this month (they get it at a 35% discount! woot woot! So go and check out the Copic Munkie blog to see the details on that.

Another Friday Freebie from PMS

>> Friday, August 28, 2009

There a new friday freebie over at the PMS blog... check it out!

Here's what I did with this word art....

I decided to go away from a card for this.  To me, this quote is one of those that needs to be a constant reminder in your life!  Just keep plugging on... no matter how tough a time gets, or how long it takes you, just keep going!  So in order to keep this a constant reminder, i make a little wall hanging that was super easy to do.  My patterned paper is glued onto a piece of thick chip board for a little more durability.  A simple cut out (and embossing) with the long rectable nestabilties, a little sponging and then adding the primas and brads made this one thing a snap.  Makes a quick and easy gift as well!

Stamps:
Friday Freebie from Paper Makeup Stamps

Paper:
Graphic 45

Tools and Accessories:
Eyelets from We R Memory Keepers
Satin Ribbon from Walmart
Glitter Flower Brads from Prima Marketing
Inks used for sponging: Ranger Distress Inks in Antique Linen and Tea Dye

Sorry for yet another 5 day hiatus from my blog!  Bad bad me!  This time i couldnt find my camera charger!  ARGH!  If it's not one thing, it's another, right?  Well, now i actually do have some fun things planned for you!  So i'm hoping my old mojo returns with it!  I've also decided to start up a new blog for makeup things.  So far it just has one of my older tutorials from makeup monday on it (the 3 minute makeup).

Here's my question to you... would you prefer to have things like tutorials only posted on the makeup blog... or did you like the makeup monday that i used to have on here?  Suggestions and feedback are always welcome!!!!

Here's my card for you today....

I made this card for my sister.  She is the ULTIMATE dog lover!  She has 2 furbabies of her own.  And in fact, this fairy is named after her!  It's the MeMe fairy which is what my kids call her (Aunt MeMe) though her name is actually Michelle.  :)  My sister also loves sunflowers!  She even has a sunflower tattoo so after some somewhat lengthy searching for a good sunflower stamp with my friend, Rachel I picked up a set of flowers and things by Recollections from Michael's.    It has a few different flowers and a lady bug and butterfly in the set and the style of the drawings really go well with the fairy style of PMS so I was very happy to pick it up!

I haphazardly stamped the sunflower on a piece of white cardstock and colored them in with copic markers.

I had a hard time deciding what sentiment to use and then i remembered i had this fun stamp from stampabilities.  So i stamped it and then mounted it on top of a flower.  Then i suddenly panicked that i dont actually speak spanish and wasnt sure if Te Amo was appropriate for a card for my sister.  So i called up my spanish speaking Amigo (rachel again, hehe) and she said it would be ok.  that is meant "SUPER affection" so as long as i reeeeeally love my sister, it would be ok.  haha.  Well, my sister is the bomb (wow, i'm dating myself, huh) so i decided to keep it. :)

Ok... onto the more specific and less to read deets...

A freebie digi from PMS

>> Friday, August 21, 2009

Happy Friday everyone! I have no idea where my week went! You'd think this week would move slowly since a lot of my friends have children that started school this week and my boys are still home with me. I'm still not sure how i'm going to feel come September when Jack starts to go to school everyday! Granted its only for 3 hours a day, but still!!!!! He's not my baby anymore!
But no, this week went by fast! I cant believe it's already the weekend! And for once, this weekend i dont have to work! AHHHHHHH.

There is a freebie wordart again from Paper Makeup Stamps. This one was created by me. In the mode i'm in of trying to find myself, i'm also realizing, that purging things (i.e. getting rid of my pack rat stash of um, everything!) and making life simpler is truly a wonderful thing. So when i stumbled upon this quote by Leonardo da Vinci in my quote book, I thought it was perfect!

Here's the card i made...

Now you can go directly to the PMS blog or you can go to the webshop to download this freebie...

And here's

More on the copic chart

>> Thursday, August 20, 2009

I edited to add this in to my post below, but i made a big booboo when i was typing out my post at about 12:30 in the morning getting it scheduled. I did NOT give appropriate credit! Giving credit where credit is due is a big thing with me... and i failed one of my very best friends on this! SHAME ON ME!

Rachel (who runs the copic munkie blog) made a chart for Funkie Munkie Scraps. She sent it to me. She sent me a blank one incase i ever wanted to make a custom one. Stephanie (owner of funkie munkie) asked if we could do a chart in the club/class setting. Because i wasnt sure about distributing some images, i used the PMS fairy heads.

I did NOT put this chart together, Rachel did. I just colored in the heads. And in fact, some of the other "resident copic certified peeps" at Funkie Munkie have colored some charts using other colors and i do believe they just might be posted on the Copic Munkie Blog in the future, so you might want to check it out. :)

So i was a bad girl and made a big boo boo. I'm sorry. :(

Copic Coloring

This is a chart that was created for the Copic Club at Funkie Munkie last month. Rachel made a chart using all different company stamps. The layout was fantastic, But i wasnt sure on distributing other companies images, so I used digi images of different PMS fairies. I used the fairy heads mainly because I knew i could give myself permission to distribute the digi image in that way. I mean, who's gonna sue me, Me? hahahaha.

Here is my chart...
In Rachel's original chart, the space at the top is to showcase color collections suggested by the copic certified design team members of the store. Since for the class we were just focusing on hair colors, i filled that portion with the colors i used below in the chart, which is why there is blank boxes as well.

There is also an identical chart that shows specifically which colors i used per fairy head. I kinda forgot to take a picture of it. WOOPS! haha. I'll do that and edit it in later.

For those that are interested... here are the fairy heads square by square...

E25, E27, E49

Y21, YR23, E99

E33, E35, E37

E07, E09, E19

YR31, Y21, YR23

W6, W8, W9

E43, E44, E47

E15, E17, E18

E30, E21, E33

I'm very curious to know - what are YOUR favorite copic colors for hair? :) Leave me a comment! I'll draw a winner next wednesday and you could win a copic color of your choice. Ok, of your choice so long as i can get ahold of it, so give me some options! Between the PMS store and Funkie Munkie where i teach, i can get a lot of colors! Oh, and Hobby Lobby too! :)

Back to ME

>> Wednesday, August 19, 2009

I promise i havent fallen off the face of the earth. I have been taking a bit of time to re-evaluate a few things and mostly, reorganize my life! This all started a few weeks back when i decided i was a wee bit fed up with the rut i felt i had put myself in. I had the permanent "mama-do" hair goin on. Pulled permanently back in a pony tail, whether it was clean or not. I rarely put makeup on, even though it's part of my career and i love makeup. My house never really even got organized from when we moved here 3 years ago. I still have picture frames in stacks waiting to be hung on the walls. Dont even get me started on my wardrobe. I had very little that fit me. It was either too big from clothing i needed to buy after i had kids and couldnt fit into my prebaby clothes, or they were prebaby clothes and didnt fit! All of these things make me not feel like who I am as a person. I like trendy clothes while at the same time, i like to be a little different. I LOOOVE makeup, even when i dont put a lot on. I like to constantly change up my hair style, color and cut. This is me. Where did i go? Where did my apartment that fit my husband and my personality go? Where did my constant state of knowing what was "in and out" whether it was music, fashion, makeup or just world news go? Did i leave it all behind in California?

Now dont get me wrong. I love my family. I love being a mom. I love the crafting world that i dove into after i moved. But there just seemed to be something missing. And i finally figured out what it was... ME!

So i got my hair cut (love it! I have a hairstylist here in South Carolina now! Woot! Her name is Britney and she works at Ulta!)
I went thru the attic and my closet and took 8 bags of clothing to good will! and not little bags. 8 monstorously large garbage bags. It felt oh so good.

I went shopping! A LOT! haha. A different place for a different everyday. I picked up clothing in my budget, but also in my style. All while remembering i'm 28, not 21! :) Or even 17 for that matter! The only thing i'm really lemming yet is a great pair of light tan cowboy boots! Oh i will find you!

I reorganized every closet in my home to make sure things were stored properly. This was a very large undertaking for my linen closet in the master bathroom because it's dedicated entirely to my makeup business. This also meant going thru my entire makeup kit (there is an unmentionable amount of money worth of makeup in there, remember this was my sole profession before the kiddos!) and i threw out what was old. And am ordering some replacements. :) New makeup is fun.

I got some new tunes for my iPod.

I have also been reorganizing what is known as the "rubber room" in my home. It should be the dining room, but it has been dedicated to everything PMS. I got a new storage unit for the stamps that i LOVE. Everything else is still in the process of being redone. But i'm working on it!

So - all these things have taken me away from my blog and from papercrafting (not from the stamp business... my extra craft time has been dedicated to getting the next release schedule and in preparation!). I miss papercrafting! This is a good thing. I needed to miss it. I needed to miss all of you! My loyal readers! If i have any left after my hiatus! hahahaha.

So i do apologize my my lack of posting this past week. Now that things are in a state to actually help me get things done, i can return to trying to do it all. :)

But here's a picture of my new "do"

Now it's back to some organzing and maybe even a little bit of crafting! Woot woooooot! :)

Thanks everyone for bearing with me! Things should start to return to normal around here! :)

Another Digi Layout!

>> Monday, August 10, 2009

Holy cow I forgot i did this! HHAHAHA! Last sunday, I decided to join up with the Scrappy Sunday group over at Paper Craft Planet (ok, lies, i actually realized there was a GROUP today, but i decided last sunday that I would try to play along with these challenges every week to help inspire my scrapbooking mojo to COME BACK!).

Jep Tapler creates a super fun sketch each week which kinda makes it so your layouts cant go wrong!

Here's her sketch for last week (the 2nd!, i'm already behind in posting my layout here!)

And here's my layout...

I used the My Guy kit by Christy Lyle and the And I Quote kit by Manda Bean. Both of these kits are available at Sweet Shoppe Designs.

Hopefully I'll get to the sketch for this week. It was made to coordinate with last weeks sketch for those that like to do double layouts! You can find this weeks sketch HERE

PMS Blog Hop!

>> Friday, August 7, 2009

Its time for the PMS blog hop!  And if you are just coming to my blog without doing the hop, you've reached the end and missed all the fabulous creations!  You need to start back at the
beginning to get the low down of the events for the day!

If you've been doing the hop... then you already know about the release party challenges bieng released to ya early!  Hopefully you can find some time to play today, because there are some extra prizes being dished out for that!  :)

Here's my blog hop card... using the first challenge...

I must say i was pretty stoked with how this card turned out!  The challenge is a "makeup" challenge (known to most as a "recipe" challenge.

PMSRP12 – Paper Makeup “Recipe” challenge.  The “paper makeup” for this challenge is:
Foundation:  1 fairy (PMS if you have it);
Powder:  2 patterned papers ;
Eyes:  Bling (2 embellishments or just use stickles, glitter, shimmerz, etc.) ;
Blush:  1 sentiment ;
Lips:  ribbon ;
You can add more – this is just to get started.  The number of layers of “makeup” you use is up to you, as well as the color choices.

Well as you can see i used Kip the Baseball Fairy and believe it or not, there are 2 patterned papers on there.  1 was used mostly as a mat, but it really is patterned paper!  hahahaha.
For my bling, i stickled his wings to match the baseballs (CU to follow) and also added some pewter brads, which arent so "blingy" but they are embellishments!  haha!
For my sentiment i used the fabulous new wordart by Shaela Odd.  I think it works perfect for this fairy, ,but could easily be used in other ways.  Can you imagine it's perfection on a digi scrapbook page!  :)  I'm thinking of the possibilities!  :)
My ribbon is paper ribbon by Daisy Bucket.  This stuff is so cool, comes in so many colors and has so many yards on the spool it's ridiculous!  :)

Here's some close ups...

Before i get to "the deets" I want to make sure you know your letter for the discount code!  Your letter from me is the letter "s".  If you've been doing the hop all along... you might have
guessed it already.  teehee.

Ok, onto

PMS Sneak Peek Day 4 - friendly Flowers for you

>> Thursday, August 6, 2009

Whew!  I just got back into town and i feel like there is so much to do before the release tomorrow!  Thank God my mom and dad are in town to help with the boys since my husband is off trying to be eaten by sharks in Charleston (he's surf fishing, and really did have a 4 foot long hammerhead shark about 10 feet from him before he ran screaming out of the water like a little girl, true story, his buddy told me!)

So in any case, this will be a short and sweet post so i can get back to work!  :)

Today we are previewing the set "Friendly Flowers".  It has 2 different flowers, 1 quote, and 2 sentiments.  You can see more of this set (and some single wordarts) on the PMS blog today!

Here is my card...

I used my new DP from Stampin Up Razzelberry Lemonade along with the razzelberry cardstock and old olive cardstock (and matching ribbon).  My flower stamp was colored in with LePlume markers before stamping.

Dont forget to stop by tomorrow for the PMS Blog Hop!  Now i'm getting back to work!

PMS Sneak Peek Day 4

I am SO excited for these fairies to come out!  I told Diem that i really wanted 2 friends as fairies because of all the friendships that have developed within the PMS team.  And she truly knocked it out of the park!  Now i will warn you (no throwing stones please!) But these are DIGI fairies!  The other fairies being released this month are rubber and digi, but the friendship fairies are digi only.  :)  Ok ok, maybe they'll be rubberized later.  haha.

Ok, here is my friendship card!

Now unfortunately for me, i kind of forgot to take multiple pictures of this card, and now i'm not at home to take more!  Bugger!  But i used white liquid applique on the flowers around her head and the necklace of flowers she's holding and it just looks so pretty!  If you click on the card, you may be able to see the extra detail.

I wanted to go a little outside my typical coloring norm... so i flip flopped my color scheme making the fairies clothing earthy browns and their hair brightly colored!  I think it was a fun switch.

The sentiment is also from PMS and here's a little secret.... it's been turned into a rubber stamp as well!  But it's in a set with some NEW designs, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the sneak peek of that set!  :)

Stamps:
Digi Stamp Friendship Fairies from Paper Makeup Stamps, available Aug 7th
Sentiment available as a digi sentiment now or in the rubber set, Friendly Flowers available Aug 7th

Coloring:
Fairies Hair:
Long Hair: B00, B02, B000 (to blend)
Short Hair: R00, R11, R14
Skin: E00, E21, R20 (cheeks)
Clothing: E30, E33, E35, E37 (also used G20, G21 in the top of the long hair fairy)
Wings: G20, G21, BG000; BV000, RV000

Thank you SO much for stopping by today!  Dont forget to go to the PMS blog to see the sneaks of the Tooth Fairy and of Hope (an awareness fairy).  There also a chance to win these fairies that you wont want to miss!

PMS Sneak Peek day 2 - Dream Big!

>> Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Well at first i was afraid i wouldnt have a sneak peek to get to show you today  When trying to get everything done before I left town, my card for this set just didnt make it.  But after i got here, I remembered my new found passion for digi scrapping (thanks, Jen!)  I went over to Sweet Shoppe Designs and picked up a new kit that had been on my wishlist called Atomic Bounce by Melissa Bennet.  I still had no idea what i was going to do.  haha.

Then i stated browsing thru pictures and I came across a set of belly pictures i had taken by my friend Jen Rogers when i was pregant with my 2nd son.  But the soft black and white picture didnt go with the new kit I just bought.  Go figure.  haha.  Then i remembered the  set of Essential Blacks i had just picked up from Emily Giovanni.  The real bonus there was she had them up for free!  You can pick up her Essential Whites as well!

Here is the layout i came up with...

I used 2 of the "papers" from Emily's Esssential Black pack and a few embellishments (heart, ribbon, saefty pin, stitch) from the atomic bounce kit.  Then i just popped in one of Shaela's fab word arts from the Dream set and viola!  I was done!

For changing color on the wordart... there may be another way to do this... i'm still new to digi scrapping, but here's what i do in Photo Shop.  I add the layer of the wordart (which is in a png file with a transparent background).  Then i go to the layer effects and click on color overlay.  From there you can choose whatever color you'd like for it to be.  Easy as that!

Now don't forget to go over to the PMS blog to see more of this set!  There are 5 wordarts, 1 simple sentiment.  The Wordart will all be available as single digi files.  The rubber set also includes 3 swirls!  There is a chance to win this set over on the PMS blog.  :)

PMS sneak peek day 1 with a PMS challenge to boot!

>> Monday, August 3, 2009

Yes it is TIME! Time for all those wonderful sneak peeks to start! Those sneak peeks that i've been working my tail end off to finish before i left to visit my Grandmother (who might I add, at 95 looks AMAZING!)

Today i get to show you a cutie patootie little fairy appropriately named Teddy.

Here's my card...

As soon as Lisa Kind (this weeks design team member in charge for the monday challenge) told me she wanted us to create our own DP... i just KNEW i wanted to use the clouds from the Raindrops and Rainbows set. Now that this set has been rubberized... yes, thats right, the raindrops and rainbows set will be available in RUBBER on August 7th! That makes these clouds perfect and simple to use to create backgrounds to your fairies!

First i masked Teddy, and then stamped some clouds right onto the paper he was on because i liked the outline effect. I then stamped some extra clouds to create a mask over the clouds. Then i used my Copic Airbrush (i told you i'm becomming addicted to that thing.... no card is complete without it!). I also masked the ground separate from the sky and drew in some grass. Here's a close up of the image...

I also used the clouds again for some DP in the background because i didnt think altering the background of the image was enough for this challenge. :) It was super easy though, i just inked them up in white craft ink and stamped a random patterned on my cardstock and VIOLA, custom DP! And since i used the clouds in the image, it matched perfectly!

Now, my backgroud was not the only thing i airbrushed! I couldnt find a button to match my cardstock i used. I was like seriously!? Out of ALL the buttons i own (and i own a lot of buttons, 3 full size ball jars and 1 über cute bottle that my friend Tangii made for me that i'll show you later after the sneak peeks are over!) and in all that i didnt have the perfect button! So i matched my cardstock to a copic marker, airbrushed away and i had a perfect button. Man i love my airbrush! :) It helps that i have every copic marker color besides 2 (and i'm still missing some greys and the florescents).

Sunday Quick and Easy!

>> Sunday, August 2, 2009

Ok, so this blog post is going to focus on the EASY rather than the QUICK! haha. I know, i know, my sunday posts are normally about the quick! But this is a super easy and fun project that when not too terribly embellished, can be super quick. My version, not so embellished, so it was quick. :)

Now i will admit, this was a kit from My Mind's Eye. But, you could have a cheap and easy version by going to any hardware store and purchasing a long piece of wood and then sweetly asking the man working to cut it into squares for you. Dont feel bad asking, it's their job! :)

Here's what you'll need to start...
9 square pieces of wood
6 pieces of patterned paper (the size of paper will depend on the size of wood you use, you just need enough to cover the tops of 1 side of each block)
Modge Podge or other white glue
Sand paper - will make your world much easier

Another helpful tip to make your world an easier place.... number each side of your blocks. So have them laying out in front of you, and write a 1 on the top of each. Then turn them all the same way...and number then 2, keep going til all the sides are numbered. Then each paper will correspond with a number so if you suddenly dont know where you are in the process (trust me, it happens!) then you can easily get back on track.

Cut your paper so that it's the appropriate size for your block. I recommend doing 1 sheet at a time and try to keep them in order!!!! again, it will make your world easier! Brush the glue right onto the block and stick the paper on top. It is up to you whether or not you want to put glue on top of the paper.

Then just step by step work thru all the blocks. This is also an easy project to do in bits and pieces. :)

When you are done... your project will look like this...

Now this looks great on a a coffee table. If you purposely choose, you could have the patterned paper mixed up and turn it into a puzzle. Or perhaps this is what you tell people... it's supposed to not match up, i promise. hahahha.

You could also add photos and such. Beware of adding thick embellishments though or the blocks wont lay flat. :)

Ok, thats the EASY project for today, even if it isnt so quick. :)

Happy Anyaversary!

>> Saturday, August 1, 2009

Happy Anyaversary everyone! There are over 80 blogs participating in this super fun hop! To see the big list... You can go to the CLub Anya blog or the Greeting Farm blog. There are birthday ideas galore in this hop! I hope you are ready for all this!

For my Anya birthday card, i decided to make it a total diva card! 1 because everyone likes to be a diva on their birthday and 2, i hadnt gotten the chance to ink up my superstar anya yet and THAT was just a travesty! :)

Here's my card...

Isnt she super fabulous?! I had a lot of fun coloring her up! I used copic markers (color details are listed in "the deets" at the end of the post. I stamped her background paper using some various stars. They didnt show up much in the picture, but they are there i promise! And i thought this digi sentiment by Paper Makeup Stamps fit the image perfectly!
The inside of the card reads, Have a Fabulous Birthday! It's pretty plain in there besides the sentiment, so i didnt take a picture. :)
Here's a close up view...

I added a black glaze pen to her sunglasses and purple liquid applique to her boa.

Isnt liquid applique so fun. I love this stuff! I seriously need to find myself some brown! I think i have every color but orange and brown! And fall is approaching! ACK!

OH - and i promised goodies didnt i! Well i own a SLEW of greeting farm stamps! So leave a comment here and i will draw 1 lucky winner to receive 30 olus stamped out images! Images will be hand stamped by me onto Nennah Solar White paper using memento ink unless i get a different request (i own a lot of paper!) :)

Ok... enough mumbling.... onto...
