MTME group post: Dazzling Ideas

>> Thursday, June 30, 2011

On July 1st, My Time Made Easy will have an all new release for you! And just because it's summer doesnt mean that there isnt all kinds of things to get crafty about!

Ok... i know you guys are probably sick of the bridal talk, but it's summer! So it's kind of my world at this point! This saturday was going to be the first saturday that i did NOT have a wedding since February 26th (a saturday I purposefully took off for Jack's 5th birthday, I did turn down some weddings for that day! But I got a phone call today from a frantic bride needing makeup this saturday for her wedding, her salon wasnt going to cut it and her photographer recommended me as we have worked together a few times. So i now will be working this weekend as well!

SO... when i saw the new release from MTME... my head began to spin with the ideas of bridal accessories. But really, the digi stamp set, Be Dazzled and For Keeps template is an absolute MUST for any jewelry and accessory maker! Or someone who just likes to gift jewelry and put it in more unique packaging!

Here's what I did with this template and stamp set...

This is one of the bridal hair combs i've made often for brides. They work well to add a bit of extra bling to their veils, or to scoop up hair from the side to add a bit of accessory to the back... Bonus, the extra crystals can be added to match the bridal party. :D

(the above picture is a different comb... it is actually 4 inches as opposed to the one above which is only 2.5 but it is one of my brides from this past year. I also did her hair and makeup.)

underneath the comb you see some more decoration peeking out... those are 3 layered digi stamps and it's SO easy!

I use photoshop, and added each stamp to a new layer. Take the full page, use the marquee tool (the dotted box) or the lasso and select just what you want. Then on a new page, either drag the image you have highlighted or copy and paste it. Each time you do this, photoshop automatically creates a new layer. THen position as you'd like. To make the butterfly pink, i went to the layers and added the effect "color overlay" and then selected the color i wanted!

Here's the back of my project using more stamps from the Be Dazzled set. There are also ADORABLE flowers that i'm sure you'll get to see one someone's project today!
I used the same method of color overlay to change this black and white outlined label to all pink and then added some appropriate words on top!

Be sure to visit all the team members from My Time Made Easy because everyone has a fun sneak peek project to share!!!

Summer is in FULL SWING around here! If i'm not busy with brides, bridal portraits or weddings, we are at the POOL! I'm actually a little bit thankful that our preschool didnt have an option for the kids this summer. I was panicked for a little bit, but getting a pool membership has been awesome! And I've just hired babysitters when needed (man, they are so much easier to find in the summer!) so it's worked out great!

The downside to all this poolness is my craft time! But i'm sure you've had those summer days too! Now if i could just get my craft room cleaned up... maybe, just maybe my crafting time would run a little bit more smoothly! haha!

Ok, back to the purpose of the post, i DO have a card for you! Today Paper Makeup Stamps has a free digi for you!

You can get the Friday Freebie right off the of Paper Makeup Stamps blog or you can get it from the store site, HERE.

I had fun playing with this digi. You know what I like about wordart... you can really get your message across to the card's recipient and you can create a card lickity split which in the summer seems to be all the time i have! :D Another big bonus with digi wordart is you can size it to really fit your needs!

I decided to make a card...

The sentiment you can see better below... it looks a bit crooked on my card because it was at a weird angle. Woops!

Now aint that the truth! I have seen so many times lately people falling out of things. Whether it's professions, relationships, etc. Truth be told... being truly successful at anything is HARD! It's hard work! But if you have determination and perserverence to work thru it all, you will succeed. Thats how i feel in life these days. I have worked my hind end off in years past... but this year i'm busier than i've ever been but i'm in love with my life! So stick with it! Whatever "it" is! There is bounds of fruits and glory there for you!

Ok, i'm done with my motivational speech now! :D

Here I used Moody for Kitties along with a sentiment from the Nothing Left to Say set.

Spellbinders circles and the copic airbrush to complete the card. Paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Snorkle collection.

TO get my mojo flowing for this card, I decided to pop by one of my very favorite challenges (that i havent played on for a bit, sorry girls!) and thats the Just Us Girls Challenge! Copic Creations Challenge with Penny Black and a prize winner

    >> Wednesday, June 15, 2011

The Copic Creations Challenge Blog has another challenge for you and it's to DOODLE!
Thats right, anyway you can think of, doodle on your images. It can be with the copic markers, multiliner, etc.

AND, we are being sponsored by Penny Black who graciously gave us each a different stamp and sentiment!

Now these were given to us at RANDOM.... so how in the world did I end up with a WEDDING STAMP! HAHAHAHA! It's like I can't escape the wedding madness (ok, for those coming over from the copic creations blog and who aren't regular followers of my blog, i'm a makeup artist who works the most it seems these days in the wedding industry. I have a wedding every weekend thru mid November, and it's been that way since March. So to say i often have brides on the brain is an understatement!

ANd i got Bride and Groom from Penny black. It made me giggle a bit, really. :D

    Here's my card...

For my doodling, i took accent colors from the images and dotted around the bride and groom. I also took a spica and a gelly roll pen and dotted inside her dress to create the bling. I di dmost at the top and then faded it down, but it didnt seem to capture as well in the photo. bummer.
You may notice her dress is a tad yellow as well. I have had SO many brides with Ivory dresses. Much more common than the white gowns these days. Gone are the days of the white dress that was so white it was almost blue! Haha! I used YR31 and YR30 to shade the dress.

My image was a tad on the large side, so I was having a hard time figuring out how to get the sentiment on the card as well, but I love it and I think i'm going to stamp it on the back of my cards that I put in my brides touch up bags. Or maybe i'll get really ambitious and make a bunch of thankyou cards with them... but really... i dont see that happening!!! hahaha! i can only hope I find that kind of time!

But i did come up with this fun way to use the sentiment INSIDE my card (who woulda thunk, huh?)
As you can see, i used the bride and groom image again, this time stamping it in a pigment ink.
    I truly adore this sentiment!

Thank you so much Penny Black for knowing me so well!

Now be sure to check out the Copic Creations Blog so you can get in on some COOOOOOL prizes!

Speaking of prizes... the last copic creations challenge was our anniversary! And i was sporting a fun prize on my blog! A grab bag worth $50 bucks!!!!! Yep!
ANd my winner is MaryJDesigns - http://maryjdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-first-gd-card-for-pollycrafts.html

    PMS Summer Blog Hop!

    >> Tuesday, June 7, 2011

The PMS Paper Makeup Artists have all joined together for a fun in the sun blog hop!
You should have hopped here from Tina Hale's magical blog... if you are just starting at my bog, you ned to go from the beginning because there is prizes to be won and you need to know how! Like a $40 mystery prize pack!!!

While my June has already provided to be as crazy as my May (thank goodness it slows down after next week!) I do have a fun summery card that I never got to share, so I thought that this would be the PERFECT time!

This is the card I created for my mom for mother's day. Now I know to many, Mother's Day is a bit more of a spring holiday than a summery one, but here in the south, anything in May is pretty much summer! Our temps have been in the upper 90's for a good part of the month. It's kinda crazy!

I used some bright paper by Crate Paper (the Carnival collection) to pair with the über cute slugs from the PMS monster collection. I love these slugs! So darn fun and cute and very fun to color! I also used a spellbinders die to cut out the image, and then the copic airbrush system to really help the image stand out!

And because I know everyone likes to see close ups to really see what stamps look like... here ya go!

Now it's time for you to hop along to the next on your list... the amazing Dawn Mercedes!!!

Here's a list in case you've gotten lost on your way....

My Time Made Easy Year in Review

    >> Sunday, June 5, 2011

Today is the year in review blog hop from the My Time Made Easy design team!
Each design team member is taking a past template and past stamps to create a gift package to give you new and fun ideas to use the templates you've already purchased!

I'm super excited about this project because i'm really pleased with how it came together and how quickly! Believe it or not, yesterday I had a wedding and a long bridal consult (it may have hit my record books as the longest consult at 3 hours, but at least they were nice people!) and then a bridal portrait this morning at 6:15, followed by 2 weddings and I have a wedding tomorrow morning. So yeah, saying I'm short on time might be an understatement these days!
So that is a PERFECT example of how awesome these templates are!
What if I had a birthday party to attend tomorrow, or knew I'd see someone at church that I wanted to give a little gift to. And then i'm thinking... craaaaap, when do i have the time?
This is when the drive by the grocery store to pick up the itunes gift card happens, right?
Well, what if you dont want to do a gift card, or you need something more personal.
Well I had previously bought my gift for inside, so that was one step down, but this project seriously came together so fast and so easy!

It a gift set for your favorite pooch! See, dogs have no use for itunes gift cards!

Now I will admit my original intent was for the shampoo to fit inside, but while it fit, everything got a bit smushed, so i've left it out for the pictures so you can see better. :D

This is the Keep It template which was actually created for all kinds of storage and it has all kinds of neat compartment mix and match ideas! I left out the drawer for the bottom because I was afraid the shampoo bottle might be a little heavy for it.

Here's a photo with everything taken out. :D

And one more of it just by its

Also used on my project are stamps from the On Display set (the doggie) and the Sign it set (paw prints and sentiment)

And one more close up because I got a little camera happy....

Be sure to check out the rest of the My Time Made Easy design team and their projects for you today!!!!

My Time Made Easy: Disc-Covered CD

    >> Thursday, June 2, 2011

I'm back with another project from the new My Time Made Easy release!
You can check out all the new products HERE.

So how many times have YOU made someone a cd and given it to them as a gift or even as part of business. Maybe a cd of songs you burned? Maybe a photo collage? Whatever it is, I know that I personally have done this a lot. Well now Lauren has made a perfect packaging template for this (which by the way, would still be perfect to put all kinds of other things inside!) Oh, and you can put a store bought cd case and all in there as well!
There are 2 versions to the Disc-Covered template! So you really are getting 2 for the price of 1!
1 size perfectly fits a CD and the other perfectly fits a DVD.

I've opted to create the CD sized version. :D

For my project I also used paper from the CountDown paper pack and a sentiment from the Night at the Movies digi stamp set!

    Here is a angled view...

I love the closure on this! The flaps slip and clash similar to one of those bra closures. Man, i guess it's a good thing mostly women read my blog otherwise I might have a lot of confused people! haha!

I covered the closer with the 4 from my sentiment, which by the way, separating the sentiment in digi form is WAY easier and quicker than trying to mask have the stamp and only stamp portions at a time! :D

Inside my Disc-Covered holder is a slightly naughty thing! But I thought it fit perfectly with the old time movie look of the packaging!

    Are you ready for this?

RUH ROH! It's a disc of "personal" images!

One of the latest crazes in portrait photography is the "boudoir session". These are pictures that everyday women get taken for their significant others. I'm done makeup for many! Brides often do it, women do it for their men over seas, but also for birthdays, christmas, valentines day (i had my own done last year for valentine's day for my hubby!)

Well, as I have been learning photography and this is an intimate topic and many women trust their makeup artists with all kinds of things... i decided I wanted to learn the art of the boudoir session. So a model friend of mine posed so I could practice! She's actually the one in the photo above, so no worries, she's totally consented to being shown. Her images hopefully will help others want to book a session. :D

The box was filled with faux flower petals to act as a cushion. I could have put the disc into a cd cover, but that simply didnt have the allure of it sitting naked on the flower petals!

    Here's a closer look...
Using photoshop, i cropped my image into a circle and printed it on adhesive paper (you know, they make cd labels and somewhere i have some, but this worked too!) and then I cut it out and stuck it onto the cd. Yes i could have poked out the center too, but i didnt have very god placement of my picture for that. I would have cut out her mouth, so i opted to leave it be. Maybe next time i will crop better!

I used another sentiment from the Night at the Movies digi stamp set and layered it on top of the image prior to printing. It reads "what dreams are made of". HA! i love it!

    So there you have it!

    Be sure to check out

    and

    Copic Creations ANNIVERSARY!

    >> Wednesday, June 1, 2011

If you are looking for my My Time Made Easy post, please scroll down!

Today the Copic Creations team is celebrating an anniversary! WOOHOO!
There is a slew of prizes and good things to be had over at the copic creations blog! You just have to check it out!

But wait... there's more! I'm having a SEPARATE giveaway right here on my blog! :D
Some of the followers of copic creations may not know my stamp company, but it's called Paper Makeup Stamps. Last challenge the team all used PMS on their cards and they just blew me away thats for sure! I have a goodie bag of PMS stamps up for grabs from 1 lucky player in the challenge this week! You just have to link up your creation to win. :D
The grab bag will be valued at over $50!!!!!!!! And it will include lots and lots of lovely stamps for you to color to your hearts content!

And now, my card using stamps from one of our sponsors, Clear Art Stamps and using our challenge to go a bit distressed and vintage!

These stamps were fun to work with! I was excited when Clear Art Stamps told us to choose any stamp set to work with! I fell in love with this one called Photo Studio.
For followers of my blog, they know that photography is another hobby and profession i've been getting into, so this set was just perfect. I stamped 2 images together to create this little scene as well as my sentiment from this set. My papers were wrinkled and crinkled after coloring, though it's a little hard to make out in the photo. :D

Here's a close up of the main image. It just now occured to me I forgot to color the little animal on the pull string. WOOPS! See it happens to all! Ok, it especially happens to me.

Now, be sure to check out what everyone else has done and enter yourself to win some fantastic prizes!!!!!

My Time Made Easy: Creative Cards

June 1st is here. Wait a minute... June first is here?! How the heck did that happen?!
Seriously, my year is flying by!

Anyhoo - June 1st is here which means there is a whole new release from My Time Made Easy. This month, Lauren decided to go all digi! Now I do like the feel of a stamp in my hand, but let me tell you, when you have critters crawling all over you (those would be my children) and not enough time in the day to pull out ink pads, and papers and all that mess not to mention clean it up... wow digi is AWESOME! You can view NEW! Products HERE!

The design team was all instructed to create 4 cards. They could be alike, not alike, movie themed, not movie themed. Well... as I mentioned in my last post that movie night really strikes a cord with me, and the fact that tonight was a movie night in our fam... well... movie night themed cards it was! Though they are nothing alike so long as you dont count simple and the same stamp sets and papers being used. :D
I kept embellies to a minimum... as in, all paper layers baby. :D Why no embellies... well i had a bit of clean up during my craft time... my 2 year old decided to cut off all his hair and left gouges of clipped bits thruout and hair all over the floor in my makeup room. OY!

    Ok...

Here they are in no particular order!

Above I used the Night at the Movies sentiments digi set for my sentiment and the papers are from the countdown and pop some fun digi paper packs.

Here my papers are from the movie tickets paper pack and my stamp collage was made by layering stamps from the About to Pop digi stamp set.

Again the stamps are from the About to Pop digi stamp set and my papers are from the Pop some Fun digi paper pack.

Last but not least, using papers from the Pop some Fun paper pack and stamps from the Night at the Movies digi stamp set and Night at the Movies Sentiments digi stamp set.

As always on the 1st of the month, this is a group post which means the other MTME design team members have cards to share as well! I cant wait myself to see what they come up with!!! They always outstand me! Check them out!
